Thanks.

This is not a stock frame, rather it’s a proof of concept from a few years ago. Stays are shorter than usual at 420mm. This will take 700x35 cross tyres or 650x47b tyres.

The production version will likely take slightly fatter 700c tyres as the stays are longer.

Any suggestions for muddy conditions? Limit on 700c tyres is 35c.
Lovely bike. Schwalbe X-One TLR are tubeless 33mm and have excellent grip in mud.

Another question I have regards how 650b tyres compare to 700c. Currently I'm on Challenge Paris Roubaix 700x27c tyres, looking to spec either Gravelking 42 or Horizon 47.

After a enforced layoff I ventured out to test the Islabikes Mud tyres I recently bought. Tenacious grip but fast as well.

Next phase is to get the XTR Di2 working. Front mech didn’t want to play with a road chainline. So the plan is to fit this instead.

Fitting it using a spaced out threaded BB86 should mean the front mech has enough space to operate properly.

Few changes since I last posted here.
650B wheels - DT Swiss XR331 on Hope RS4 28 hole hubs.
Fat 650B tyres - Teravail Rampart Light & Supple 47mm
Accessories- Milkit valves & sealant
Cassette - Sram XG1199 10-42

Took her out for the first time yesterday on mixed terrain in the Tuscan hills. Some of the steratta was decidedly sketchy but was no issue at all. Got a couple of double takes from MTB riders I encountered!

Superb looking bike! What seatpost did you end up using in the end and do you know by chance what the wheelset weight came out to?

Alas the wheels were so last minute before my trip I forgot to weigh them.

Seatpost is the old one from my road bike. Deda Superzero 31.6. Stem is an old Newton with old Zero 100 bars. All ate temporary.

Plan is to swap bars to Cinelli Dinamo, stem is TBA and post is likely to be a Condor Supremacy In-Line.

Couple of questions for you :)

What chainring tooth counts are you running ? At one stage you were lookinmg at alternates ?

Did you end up using the RX4 calipers in the end ? Can't quite make out from the pics.

I’m using a Shimano FC-M985 172.5mm with 44/30 rings. In hindsight I’d probably have used a GRX which would have obviated the need for a 10 up cassette. The Easton EC90 i initially tried was too far in for the XTR mech to work with and the Dura Ace I tried with AB Gravel rings fouled the frame.

Yes, I did. Flat mount front and post mount rear.

Cheers.

When you mention 'spaced out BB386 BB', did you just add spacers to ensure that the overall dimension suited the crank length ?

The frame has a BB86 shell, 86.5x41mm. The cranks are MTB, so are designed to work with a 91.5mm shell. So the Wheels Manufacturing thread together BB needed 2.5mm of spacers each side to work.
