I just noticed that r2-bike have MCFK 650b 28-hole carbon rims with 24.5mm internal width on sale at €294 (well, that would be the price to me in Australia, it varies by country). Still not cheap but about half what MCFK rims normally cost. I think they're on sale because MCFK have come out with a newer model that drops the weight by ~25g (from 359g to 335g). https://r2-bike.com/MCFK-Rim-275-650B-M ... ook-glossy.

Bit steep on price. Still think I’ll use DT Swiss XR331. Similar weight but a fraction of the price.

Hm, MCFK rims are 35mm wide on the outside and 24.5mm on the inside.
XR331, 23.5mm outside and 20.0mm inside.
I don't see how they are even close?

I don’t need super wide rims.

21mm internal width is fine for 47mm tyre. the best rims (not weight weenie is the Kinlin TL23) but wider is better. a nice robust properly tubeless compatible rim. the DT rims fail to manage tubeless compatibility and before anyone ways yes they are the tubeless tyre does not always stay seat when there is no pressure because there is no bump next to the well. so that in a my book is not tubeless compatible.

how wide will your tyres be, depends on your tyres.

The XR331 is pony. built with it once and I can tell a rim I will never go near again because when you stress it, it goes out of true and no matter how much you stress it, it is never stable. so that a wheel when you hit a rock and side load it could go out of true. pony and not in a good way.

I use XR361, no problems with these rims/wheels.
28 + 28 spokes, Hope RS4 hubs

Width of tires vary with increased rim width

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know of a carbon 650b rim designed for rim brakes?
I'm waiting on someone to chime in as well. Tracking thread https://weightweenies.starbike.com/foru ... 4&t=152729

Don’t think that is rim brake compatible.

Ok whatever. Tried to help. Description clearly says rim clincher. I have a set. Email petercycles@foxmail.com

It doesn't have a brake track, so I'd say no rim brakes on this one.

I went with Reynolds ATR 650’s.
32mm external and 23mm internal width.
Not too heavy, decent weight and tubeless ready!

It’s to run on my Exploro so I don’t need the tires too wide as I can only fit up to a 2.1”, so the 23mm internal is perfect. No need for anything larger.
