I have had 2 pairs of Shimano XC90, they are great for CX and MTB. I also like the S-works MTB and Sidi Drako.
Having a flexible sole is way over rated. How much do you really run a lap? 10-20 seconds? Even in really muddy, unrideable conditions, I've never had an issue with any of the mentioned shoes.
Are the XC90 also suitable for +2...+5C? Or are they too ventilated for these temperatures?

I have those Recon Mixed. Laces will get loose during 1h race. Not completely, but a bit.
