Pics or it didn't happen! I didn't realize how much the front suspension actually did until I was on a rigid fork. Sure, the bike was a bit heavier with the Lefty Oliver and it understeered but that was only a problem if you kept switching between bikes (Tarmac/Slate/HT MTB) as you got used to the steering. I'm on a Focus Mares CX this season. We'll see how that works out but so far I'm not sure a slightly lighter racing CX is actually better overall for me. Can a carbon Topstone really be that much better? It's nowhere as cool for sure.

Here's my Slate during a perfect late summer evening. Maybe I have posted the picture before? Anyway, I set it up to ride fast on gravel and pray that it didn't rain as the Panaracer Gravel King slicks hated mud. Otherwise they rolled butter smooth on everything. Oh, I turned up for some gravel event late september and it started snowing out of nowhere. Did 100 miles on slicks and could barely hang on to the group. I crashed out in a corner and was awarded "Best Crash" later at the event dinner winning a Hi-Viz Craft winter jacket

Ta. Was hoping they were 47's and then you could confirm clearance.

It's a medium frame and from what I read on Cannondale Slate Owners Facebook group is that you need a Large frame to clear 47 slicks in the rear and then it is an extremely tight fit. The Slate isn't really compatible with 47s in the rear I'd say.

I'm running an OPI stem on my slate and recently stripped down the entire bike for some new paint. I'm actually having the frame, stem, bars and seatpost done in Cerakote (There will be a post with lots of pictures when it's all done). Anyway I found a lot of mud had been slung up into the steer tube and stem. Is there a plug I can get from the bottom or has anyone used something else to plug it up?

Cerakote? That's cool. i want to strip and clear mine and do it in a USAF sorta thing...but I'm lazy. How did you strip yours?

So by strip I meant taking everything off the frame, including all the bearings. Everything. Since the frame will have to be baked when the ceramic coating is applied. As for stripping the paint off, the company doing the coating will be doing that (http://iacoatings.com/) via media blasting/sand blasting.

Very nice. I'm on the prowl for an opi for mine-but the steerers seem to be hard to come by...

Necro-ing this thread.

I have a powermeter on a Si SL NDS crankarm, is it possible to run the older Si SL (BB30) on the BB30A?

What I’ve understood is that crank arms are always the same and different chain line etc are done with spacers and different axle lengths.
I have StagesPower on my Scalpel, SuperX and SystemSix and Stages have only one crank to order.

Same here with Slate, Habit and Supersix (2011 and 2021 model)

I dug around some more, basically the SiSL2 spindle got 5mm wider to 109mm, and SiSL2 NDS crank arm has 3.5mm less offset (for a net bump in 1.5mm Q-factor).

When you put the SiSL on a BB30A w/ the 109mm spindle, you bump the Q-factor accordingly by 5mm. You can compensate on the new shoulderless spindle by putting spacers on either side to re-center the crank on the frame, but you'll move your chainline slightly as well (which maybe good for tire clearance).
