My 2 month old Shimano XTR 9100 XC Race pedals have both developed a very annoying click, so these are going back and I've just ordered some Xpedo M-Force 8 Ti's that should also save me circa 100g.

the engagement is not as good as XTR, but still plenty good and I use them for the weight savings as well.

As long as they don't click on every single pedal stroke, I'm happy!

Or it's just some dirt / dust.
Nah, it's just typical Enve quality :smartass: (I own 3 sets and they all have the same marks that some confuse for cracks)
650x55 looks good, I'm going to have to replace my Juniper Ridges once I wear them out.

Does anyone knows the actual weight of the Upper frame? Curious to see how close it is to the 880g claimed weight

Thanks!

If anyone has had the chance to ride both the Upper and the new Specialized Crux, I'd be very interested in their opinions. Currently considering one of the two as my next do-it-all bike

Yeah I was looking at the Upper, Crux, and Aspero 5 as my groadie. I would appreciate any thoughts on this as well. Also, Ryanw that is a sweet build and shop. It gives me some inspiration.

A few changes resulting in a little weight loss:

XTR pedals out for Xpedo M-Force 8 Ti:

Apple AirTag:

WolfTooth 40T chainring (saved around 7g IIRC).

Now at 6.76kg with 160ml/g of sealant:

Just back from a weekend in the Cotswolds.

As much as I love my 55c Rene Herse Umtanum Ridge tyres, they're too big for the frame when the trails get seriously muddy / claggy.

Was clearing out the stays every opportunity I could, but the conditions were ridiculous:

For similar trips / routes, I'll be putting the Hurrican Ridges (48mm) back on.

I'm also contemplating taking 20mm off the reach and going down to a 90mm for some faster handling.

@ryan - Love to see you do a new Crux build and compare the two (not just weight) but overall performance. As always, great work and I always appreciate your posts.

This is an L, correct? I'm debating if 72.5 HTA with 50mm rake is not too low of a trail for gravel bike - how do you find it?

Nice pic! That's some deep mud. On some of the gravel trails I've been on lately...we ride through since the mud was about 3" deep with hard pack under...just can't stop pedaling or else the mud will eat you up.
