Signs of 1x12 gravel groups?

Kinda hard to tell if that's a new 1x12 setup, but it definitely looks different from 2x11 eTap. It might be a Force 1 eTap, but it seems weird to dedicate any time/effort to 11-speed, when they've been working on 12-speed on the mountain bike side.

Seems like you'd go through those long RDs faster than lens cleaning wipes. With Ultegra RX out there, I don't see why we need 1x12+ super long cage anywhere near rocks and mud when we can have 2x medium/short cage. Maybe if they made a quick change cage or it was spring loaded to return from side hits. It just looks like too long of an arm for something that needs to stay in alignment, be lightweight, and live the kind of life it lives.
Because you can't get low enough gearing with the usual 2x groups, and for simplicity.
+1. My gravel bike is pretty close to mtb 1x 11-speed gearing (40T, 10-42) because I ride many of the same trails, often 15-20% climbing sections.
kudos to you for digging up the fact

Wait, 34t chainring with a 40 or 42t cassette isn't low enough? That's the lowest 2x gearing Santana Tandems offers and it should be compatible with any gravel bike running Ultegra 8000. Maybe some frames will need the Wolftooth adapter to make that derailleur take those cogs but on a Santana it's not necessary. My point was the gear range that 2x drivetrain would offer (50t and 11t) is much greater than what you'd get with a 1x and gravel use seems like it would need a wider range than MTB or road, along the lines of what many tandem riders need. I use 1x on my MTBs for simplicity on techy singletrack, mud clearance, and dropper remote location. Also, I don't need a big gear range (I use 11-42). Those needs seem very different than gravel.
I have 1X Force on my Crux and I wish it was 2X. I'm running an 11-40 right now and often wished for more high and low gear with shorter ratio jumps between cogs. There's no way to get that with 1x. I'm spun out going >28mph down a hill. I could switch my freehub to an XD drive and then get a an Sram 10-42 but then I'd have even bigger jumps in gear ratio plus I'd have to spend $200 to get that.
That said, if you live in a flat area or just ride gravel roads rather than do mountain bike trails then you can easily get by with 1X. If you want it all - wide range of gears and small jumps in ratio on shifts then you need to go 2X.
The only reason I don't switch to 2X is because Force hydro levers cost so much. I also just moved to a flat area so I may go back to an 11-32. If I was specing a bike from new I'd definitely go 2X unless I lived in a pan flat area.

I just looked and it looks like they do sell hydro shifters separately now. When I looked a year ago it was around $500 for a new set of shifters.
But I just moved to a very flat area so I should be able to just stay on 1X with a larger chainring and a smaller cassette. I no longer need the mountain bike trail gearing on the gravel bike.

I'm pretty sure you can install shifter internals in the left lever, all you need is an old left Double Tap.
