Weight Weenies

Ok, so I had to run down to my LBS to get a jersey for tonights ride (I didn't have time to do laundry last night), as this is only the second jersey I have baught (New to cycling) I wasn't sure of size. So picked one off the rack and it was an XL. I tried it on. Fit good. Not too tight, not too loose. So I purchase it, get it home while on my lunch break and notice its a women's jersey.
So, I got online to see what the difference was between the Men's and womens jerseys are and all I can see is the womens XL is a 41.5 inch chest and mens L is a 42.5 in the chest. Does anyone know of any other noticable differences? Am I going to be the laughing stock of the club ride tonight? Please help.

Depends if you have boobs and how big they are.

I do, a little. I'm a guy with man boobs that I am trying to get rid of, but that in and of itself is SUPREMELY embarrassing. I have lost 95 pounds but I still have them.

Just kidding, that sucks though. You may notice that there is a bit extra space in the chest area.

Womens tend to have a little tuck in the waist area and flair towards the bottom as well as having a little more material in the breast area. Sometimes womens have what are called bust darts (a conical expansion for the breasts). Also, womens tend to be an inch or so shorter in height, but every manufactuer can do all this a little different. Mens tend to be barrel shaped overall in the trunk area with a slight taper toward the bottom and as I said longer top to bottom. If it fits, wear it. Some women (thin Twiggy ones) fit mens better. Some men, usually men that have lost lots of weight and have extra skin and fatty tissue in some places would probably fit womens better. It is all highly elastic and will probably be fine and nobody will notice.

Two tips:
Don't tell your mates it is a ladies top
If it is pink ditch it.
Otherwise you will be fine.

Singletrackworld (a UK magazine) do a pink camoflage top. Sounds really femanine but I was hugely tempted to buy one.

Well, all went off without a hitch. I don't really talk too much at these club rides. This has been my first week out on a road bike. All of my 1000 miles on this bike have been on the trainer. But its been fun. Had one person tell me sunday I should seriously think about racing as I finished at the front with guys who race. Anyway, thanks guys.
