Superlite wrote:Dude, there is no way with todays technology and manufacturing techniques to make 1080g clincher wheelset. They have a hard enough time making tubulars that light. Post some pics of your magic wheels on here so we can see them.

Besides, they have an advertised weight of 1268g, someone else even posted that. Check them again, they must be tubulars.

Superlite, ya gotta watch your manners man! This is not the first time I have seen you fly off the handle at someones comments. In this particular case you had no idea about these wheels whatsoever, yet made outragous comments. I have only been on this site a short while and without ever speaking to him I realize Nino really knows his stuff, way more than for me to doubt him.

Anyway, this is not meant to berate you in anyway, just a word to the wise and for the enjoyment of other weightweenie users. Chill out a little "dude"

Glad to hear it man, tell me have you had chance to put any road miles on your CAAD 7 yet? I'm sure its crappy weather in Colorado too now but since you are my kinda weight I wanted to ask. I found the frame WAAY too stiff or i should say harsh, beat the crap out of me with Ksyriums. 32 spoke training wheels helped, as did carbon post but not a lot. CAAD 4 training bike is totally different. Try it and let me know

So far I have about 100 miles on it, yeah the weather is crappy here, snow is just starting to clear up, so maybe go ride tomorrow. personally I think its great! It is stiff, especially those cranks, but the hour glass seat stays do there job, and make the ride very complient. Also I have the easton EC 90 carbon post and the fizik airione saddle, I'm sure they also help.

I love my new bike, very comfy, very solid. I can honsetly say it's the nicest bike I've ever owned, and even though the frame wasn't as light as I thought it would be ( off by 150g) it's so nice I honestly don't care.

Go for it, just a word of advice, don't order the the R5000, or the R3000. Since they are usiong the new dura ace you'll be waiting forever to get your bike. If your going to get just the frameset, or the Team replica then your good to go.

I have the 03 R2000, and have a couple of 000miles on it. Just cant seem to get along with it. Think I will go for a Specialized Roubaix pro carbon next what do you think?

Eurus are pretty heavy.

Eurus 2002 1609g. Eurus 2003 1545 g according to the wheel weight listings.

But then Ksyrium SL's aren't too SL either....

Check out speed dream wheels for another set of light clinchers 1390 gm a set. They are a semi custom - you discuss your needs and the spoke count and weight may change. at less than $600 US.

All these new wheels are getting so expensive it's crazy and confusing! I am in the market for an aero wheel for my TT bike. The options are crazy.

i seriously doubt the weight, longevity, and availability of those spada 1080 gram wheels. assuming their weight claims are true, what sort of rider will be able to get aboard those wheels? someone in the 110lb range? the spoke gauge listed from the specs i have seen is some kind of custom spoke i've never seen. as for their rims, if they are the ones out of europe that i'm thinking of, they are likely to have a short lifespan. bad rim design, and no surface treatment for braking. perhaps these wheels are vaporware? their website has nothing about them.

the ac magnesiums are real at least. i've ridden with bill shook, and some of his co-workers in the tampa area, and the guys were aboard the magnesium wheels. bill himself was getting around on the latest revision of the wheelset, with sapim cx-rays, and his set was coming in at the high 1100 gram (around 1180's) range for the pair, 28 front, 32 rear, alloy nips! this was only a few weeks ago, so it's recent news.

correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't the bontrager triple x-lite wheels tubular?

The weight is right, there was a review in an Italian magazine about them, so they are real. I understand they are okay up to 165lbs. The spokes are CX-Rays.

I don't know about the Bonty's, I just added what I do know to the existing list.

hmmm that is interesting. spada must be chopping part of that weight from the hubs. i believe they're using slightly shorter spokes also. i'd like to see a set of those wheels in person... sorry for being pessimistic here :)

Hey Jim, read the whole post. I said the same thing. I actually contacted Spada and got pics of the new wheels. Just read the whole post, you'll find it.
