Actually every part that went on the bike was weighed the listed weight is "actual"

I know that, but accuracy goes off when you weigh parts individually. If you weigh everything together the total weight will not add up to you parts weighed seperatly. The scales are not accurate enough, or is it precise enough? Can't remember which is the correct term.

Anyway, you can expect about 100g to be added onto your total weight, sucks, but that goes for everyones build.

Find a shop with a good digital scale to weigh your whole bike.

I fail to see your logic. By taking the time to weigh each part individually it is more accurate than weighing the entire bike. No additional Ti-Prep or grease was used that was not already on the parts when weighed.

It has nothing to do with added weight from grease or air in the tires(although they add a couple grams)

Unless you weighed the individual on about a $2000 scale the precision is high enough to give you the "real" weights. The weight provided on a cheap scale is about 1-2% off, which isn't alot, but when you add up 1-2% on a bunch of parts you get about 100g discrepency.

Trust me, I've built up 3 bikes, weighed each individual part and then weighed the total bike. Never have the two been the same, and the complete bike always weighed more.

So even though my build up is a hair under 5700g, the real weight is going to be around 5800g.

Just weigh it on a digital scale, a good one and you'll see.

I agree with @superlite.

There is another way to weight your bike exactly: Put first frontwheel on your scale and look for someting to put on the back wheel like a book or so. Then turn your bike and get the weight of the back wheel and then add the two terms.

Seems a bit strange but the weight of motorcycles sometimes is taken in this way.

Just do this and let us know the result.

Nice bike. I think your weight for the Zero G brakes must have been before you changed the pads. Corimas should have cut more than a couple grams off their weight.

Pretty amazing how light a rideable bike can be now (though I wonder about the saddle lasting long).

The pads you see are Koolstop not Corima. I have a set of the Durace 7800 pads on order and plan on giving those a shot.

hey - that looks like a twin brother of my bike...
different cranks, fork, tires and hubs and a different "bikestand" but that's about it...and the weight is also similar: 5.52 kilos as pictured with computer (weighed on my digital hanging scale)

jealous? me? not at all.
i just looked at that bike and it is pretty much the same than mine. i don't care what others do -not at all! i could put some carbon Tubular-wheels and get it under 5 kilos quite easily but i really don't care. i use my bikes almost everyday and for me a nice (and light) bike is just part of my hobby. as important as riding itself.

and i don't have just one bike to take care, there's also my MTB and last but not least that nice "bikestand" above which takes even more time than all my bikes combined':wink:'
