I think working with stickers as my Teammate did is the best you can do it over again and have different designs, just get the old stickers off. and put new on.

I know Bart Wellens paints (lets somebody else paint) his helmets (giro) too. I believe he said that the guy who painted his helmets, is somebody coming from the motor-cross. so, it's possible.
