i still wish cannondale would use sloping top tubes. i don't like the way large frames look with the old fashioned horizontal top tube.

plus, cannondales have to be the least aero frames with those huge round tubes.

i did enjoy my cannondale mtb for nearly a decade without any problems.

Well since 2006 all the sizes have a 2cm slope which is very noticeable on smaller sizes. Also a lot of the tubes are fairly aero and not just round.

I just bought a 2006 50 cm Caad8 with Ultegra last week for $1599 and will be taking the virgin ride on it wednesday. I probably should have spent a little more and went with a 2007 Caad9. By the way the bike feels HEAVY as hell.

I think if you wanted light you would have been better looking else where  . I would say that they fall about middle of the range for weight. But for me stffness was the major factor-----> That and the fact I can't break their frames  .

Mine looks like more than 2 cm. I will get my level and calipers out and find out later when I have more time.
For certain parts stiffer is more important than lighter.

Optical illusion. The top of the tube slopes over 2.5 cm since the tube is fatter at the front, but the centerline drops 2 cm.

Actually the slop depends on the size of the frame.

From sizes 48-54 there is a 3cm drop.

From 56-63 there is a 2cm drop.

Actually, I did the math backwards. Should have added .5 not subtracted .5.

All 2006 and newer models have a 2cm shorter seat tube. Smaller sizes like my 50cm(48cm c-t) will end having more of a slope. A 52cm doesnt actually slope as much a 50cm because the headtube is only 6mm larger.
