What's your point? He never commented about anything other than the looks of the bike. When judging solely on aesthetics the “cover” is the only thing that matters. I’m impressed by the technical details of the bike, but other than that it looks like every other Trek out there for the umpteenth year in a row.

The front hub looks at lot like the B-T-P one Florian posted the article on.

somehow that reminds me of the famous piece "The Gringo" in Santi Boteros Tour diary 2000:

The one thing that this picture really shows well is how HUGE and ungainly looking the new DA 10-speed shifters are. Just as butt-ugly as their crankset.

Treks only achievment is make already long chainstays look even longer. The bike is butt-ugly with the top tupe (optically) sloping downward to the front. Also Lance' setup with the high bars and brakelevers is a slap in the face.

That's how edco builds their hubs for quite a time.

The bontrangers are more conical shaped and don't have the bump in the middle

Just window shopping cause at the end of the day it still has to weigh 6.8kg or more. Any decent production bike can reach that with a set of light wheels. No need for anything else really exotic and you've saved weight in the smartest place.

Regarding the brand Trek, I don't find them very interesting but some available paint jobs make them look pretty okay. The only thing I really can't stand is anything with the name Bontrager on it....just doesn't sound right as a brand name.

Well when you do you can stop thinking about those candy apple paint jobs you only get from some euro manufacture like colnago etc, they have paint jobs like that to distract you from the lack of workmanship!!
have a ride on one and look at the technology, this i a production platform bike with of the shelf groupo, bars, stem, seat etc. You dont see one of these one peice seat and posts (very light mind you) which you would never be able to get comfortable on, but your allready on the weight limit for UCI use.
