I spoke with ZG about the cranks yesterday.

The design is done, testing is nearly done. They are confident that they finally have the crank they wanted.

Several production sets are machined, but unfortunately I am not allowed to share pics as they are not yet anodized. I have a CAD drawing of the final release, I'll post it later today.

They are expected to begin shipping in the next couple of weeks.

What will be available at first? All 3 weights in both compact and standard will be done in 172.5. As well, some 175's will be made.

170, 177.5 and 180 will be available, but not until Jan.

So, you should be able to buy a crank the same time the testers receive theirs?

Edit....or are they sold out for months ahead?

Lee,

A few shops will get them just after the testers. Some of ZG's larger accounts were offered the chance to put in an order long before the cranks were even official. (I think I made the order just after Interbike last year) Those few shops will get them first. From there they will start filling standard backorders. I don't think you will see them really start to come into stocks until the first of the year. I assume most shops have a waiting list.

Of course I might have put my own name on the waiting list, to reserve a couple extra sets for myself. So if you decide you want them you know what to do.

I would go to wisecycles if I were trying to order a pair. I was going to preorder some when I first heard about them but decided against it for some odd reason. I have decided since that the 07 records would work just nicely till I can see how these turn out. The picture they are showing on the website sure doesn't draw me to the new cranks. George Lucas called, he said he is missing parts from the Mellinium Falcon
