It's true that somewhere along the way, cervelo went from dentist bike to racer bike, which is strange because they always had a wt team, but somehow jumbo visma sold the bike in a way that CSC and slipstream never could manage. Or maybe it's just that aero weenie-ism went from fringe to mainstream.
2020. TdF. Hirschi. S5. Hilly stage breakaways.

Escapecollective wrote an article about this bike and mentioned how Tadej positioning over the years have him progress further and further forward and alluded that he preferred a shorter reach. If that is the case, the Y1RS won't be on the very agressive long and low fit, and probably similar to the V4RS, not exact.
"Short reach" for Pogacar is still a custom 125mm equivalent barstem with 79mm/129mm reach/drop. If we wanted to fit a 176cm Pogacar around a 110mm stem, then the Y1Rs in his size could be 15mm longer than the 485mm V4Rs he currently rides (539mm stack, 383mm reach.) 539mm stack and 398mm reach (1.35:1 STR) would be fairly progressive. By WW standards it’s unthinkable.
We don't know what the specs of the Y1Rs barstem are, but yeah, "short reach" is relative.
True. Professional road bike fitting aside (the best rider aside in 2024), the stack and reach of the frame doesn't seem to differ drastically from the V4RS but. It's difficult to tell from one small grainy image being overlayed. I'll see on the 9th.

Cervelo was always successful in capturing
my attention, even in the CSC and slipstream days. Pre-visma Cervelo had iconic moments like Cancellara on the P3, and Thor Hushvod on the S3, both winning WC stripes and TDF stages + jerseys on the bikes.

Yeah, he looks particularly smooth and efficient on a bike as well, so can see that being a big moment for the brand.

The new Colnago bike name added today to the UCI approved frame list is not “Y1Rs”.
What is “VX1”?
Are we sure this isn’t something else like a cross bike? Especially since there’s only six sizes.
“Only” 6 sizes?
S,M,L,XL,XXL
More than enough right?

So I don't remember being particularly shook by the disc s5, at least it supplanted this monstrosity:
There was a second rim brake S5 out for years after that one and it looked waaaaaaaay better!

Right now, I'm really feeling the aesthetics of the frame—it's got a fresh look, kind of like when the S5 came out. Colnago fanboys might not be on board, but this is exactly why the industry and bike brands have been stuck playing it safe with designs. Just like the S5, though, everyone was initially hesitant, but opinions shifted. We'll just have to wait and see, but I think this might be a success. I wouldn’t be surprised if, in a couple of years, other brands start following suit
Which s5 are you talking about? Cervelo has a long history of unapologetically funky aero designs, and the s5 disc was preceded by a pretty non-triangular s5 rim. So I don't remember being particularly shook by the disc s5, at least it supplanted this monstrosity:

That SRM still is among the best looking of all time IMO.

Ugliest to least ugly:
Bianchi
SL8
BH
Colnago
S5
A few weeks back by chance I cycled for a few minutes behind someone on a futuristic green Bianchi. I thought it looked amazing, it was shaped with lots of unexpected angular curves. It turned out to have been a Bianchi Oltre Comp Ultegra di2 which is not even crazy expensive. My point being, sometimes things look better in the flesh than you might have expected.

I don't like the bike, specially the stem bar solution, but admit that is better in the flesh. One good friend and cycling companion has that exact model in celeste. Flat courses, hilly courses and even some light bikepacking with 200km+ days on the saddle. He likes it and enjoy it
