Who are these "modern racers" who need a 2cm higher stack compared to an Aeroad for the same reach? There are plenty of endurance bikes available with this geometry - in fact it's less aggressive than my CX/Gravel bike.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 7:48 am
Asian bikes like the Dare VA-AFO and potentially the Intropy Speedster SSR will get serious consideration from me even at western brand prices because the western brands don't make bikes that fit modern racers.

Intropy Speedster (what I replied to) is 560 stack for 390 reach. My Inflite is 547 stack for 388 reach. Aeroad is 539 for 390 reach.alanyu wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 12:31 pmShow me your CX/gravel which is more aggressive than Dare?joebusby wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 12:00 pmWho are these "modern racers" who need a 2cm higher stack compared to an Aeroad for the same reach? Lol, you're comparing the wrong sizes. You list Small canyons compared to the 56? Of course the stack is way different. You should be comparing the 54 for a like for like. The 58 Intropy is lower than a 58 Tarmac SL8, lower than a 58 SuperSix, and is only 4mm higher than the Large Aeroad.joebusby wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 1:04 pmIntropy Speedster (what I replied to) is 560 stack for 390 reach. No you shouldn't use arbitrary labels that have no standard to compare anything. Same shit as comparing different tyres by label size instead of measured size.
Inflite has a huge mandatory transition spacer like stevens arcalis. Aeroad has a proprietary cockpit with tons of extra stack. Intropy ss has neither of these flaws. Those comparisons are meaningless

The "transition spacer" is 10mm, but is not mandatory. You can, from Canyon, buy a simple flat headset top cap. I use it on my Inflite. Could you explain how the comparison is meaningless? The bars are 2cm higher (or 1cm higher if you use the stock spacer).toxin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:17 pmNo you shouldn't use arbitrary labels that have no standard to compare anything. @LanceLegstrong
As toxin says, size labels are irrelevant. If I relabelled the Canyon "S" as a "M", would it change the size of the bike? The point is, the quoted geometry that TobinHatesYou was suggesting was as a "racers" geometry that "you can't get from a mainstream brand" is actually more of a dad-fondo geometry (as evidenced by the fact that it's more upright than my gravel bike). This is actually appearing to be the case with quite a lot of the chinese brands (higher stacks, shorter reaches).
Obv this is totally fine if that's what fits you (e.g. you need more stack to get into a comfortable flat forearms position due to flexiblity or morphological reasons) I just found it weird as a justification for the price. There are plenty of western bikes that are a similar price but have more or less aggressive geometry.

I said SSR. My hope is the SSR will be dramatically more aggressive than the SS/SS+, akin to the Dare.
To come back at the original topic of the Speedster SS+:
- the specific aero bottles + cages of the SS+ - claiming to save another 8W in wind tunnel - are not ready yet, but will be released shortly
- Incolor also released their version of an UDH Shimano DirectMount RD hanger that I am currently waiting for (these apear hard to get and I don't like Silca's Ti printed ones at all)
- also waiting for some SLT headset bearings but had to wait for the frame to arrive to get the proper sizes dialed
- a BBInfinite will not fit due to the battery compartment in the BB area [BB type btw is T47A]
- frameset is featuring a completely flat transition spacer; 15mm hose cover underneath the stem is part of the 37mm stack of the stem, stem angle being -11deg
- frameset was purchased directly from Incolor: As mentioned really positive and quick communication as well as really helpful
Price is 18,800 YUAN for the SS+, shipping 140 USD (all plus custom duties and VAT), shipping took ca. 1 month
I was also looking into the SSR, but wanted a new winter bike anyways and already wanted to test the(ir) qualities on the SS+
An SSR is on the list then next year.
Fitted my gravel wheels with 38mm WAM tires (35mm Cinturato H on 24mm ID rims) and there is 1.5mm space all around the tires.

From what I understand, geo will be very similar for the SSR, if not identical. ISP not 100% but very likely. Significantly deeper tube sections in places. 'Exotic' layup. Some 'surprises'. Price rumored above 30k yuan, but that may include paint picker (but not full custom).
