Weight Weenies

Well, should I blow some dough on one of these bad boys? Before I do, what model you guys recomend? Most of you have the Sprint, or Sprint SL. Any signs of weakness, or any issues with durability? Don't wanna spend $250 and a week later have the seat snap.

Also, what about comfort? Will I be able to ride the Sprint for several hours comfortably? Or is it gonna kill my butt?

Really too many variables to answer. As far as durability I have had no problems, but you do have to make sure the saddle rail clamps are not sharp and no closer than 1cm from the ends of the metal sleeves. I have been as fat as 175 pounds on my endurance SL which is way over the limit and it's still going strong (I am back to 132 lbs now though).

Comfort is hard to say. About the only way I have found to rule out saddles is to compare the widths with ones I like and base my guesses on that. I like the indented channel toward the back of the endurance since I ride with my pelvis tipped very forward and it gives some space for the plumbing. I did an 8 hour ride last weekend on my new orange endurance burdened by 2 saddle sores and I am not saying it was a pleasure but I didn't turn around halfway either.

I think the colored versions are more comfortable than even the SL models, despite having the heavier rails since the shell seems to flex a little more. And they do look very cool.

superlite, I'd probably suggest a lycra tune speedneedle. From gypzybike the euro conversion is $150. You're not using an alien, so the your seatpost will work (double check that though) and the lycra ones are only either 87 or 97 gm, so pretty light, plus you'll save $100, plus probably some delivery time.

What ever, just picked up a SLR Carbino, 135g of comfort. Ahhh.

hey guys, I live in the states like some of you and is there any way to get the speedneedle imported with out having to go through tune at all? I took a german class a long time ago and there is no way I am going to be able to go through all of that so if anyone knows any other way instead of going through tune let me know.

just wait a few weeks and the new 44g Tune carbon saddle is available.

anyway - those hyperlight saddles are really comfortable as the carbon shell flexes a lot more than any regular saddle.it is however crucial to have them adjusted properly.most tend to have the nose too low which makes you sit on the thin and hard and unforgiving front part of the saddle. have the saddle level to the ground or even nose slightly up and these saddles are the most comfortable ones.

my 68g Sprint SL is on it's 3rd year now (roadbike), the 84g Endurance i have on my MTB is in it's 2nd year.for me the best saddles around. however i already ordered that new Tune saddle...we will see how that one performs.

any pics of the new tune saddle? price? where did you order your from?

but i was told not to post them before they are available.they look similar to AX-Lightness saddles but not as dark a colour.more greyish. but the pic i have is from early prototypes so that may change for production.

i ordered throught he swiss Tune Importer "parts of passion".no info on verified price but should be close to 250-260 Euro.

A 3 yr old sprint SL and a 2 yr old endurance hmm interesting. Some other riders broke those saddles very easily. May i ask how much you weight ? Agressive riding or not ? Are you that kind of guy that keeps braking things on his bike or rarely brake somtething.
