I don't think it is anywhere close to an Aethos. I reached out to them, the weights listed are unpainted with no hardware. I would expect >800g for the painted frame with hardware and >370g for the fork.

The closest disc bikes to an Aethos are the Emonda SLR, Fuji SL 1.1 and Focus Izalco Max from around 2017, otherwise nothing current from western brands really comes close except something like the Suncrest or the Min.D. The Min.D is a straight up endurance bike though.

You forgot Verticale SLR

You forgot Verticale SLR

Can probably include the 02 VAM as well.

As other mentioned, new 2023/24 bikes: Verticale SLR, SW Tarmac Sl8, Giant TCR advanced and Factor O2 Vam are significantly lighter than the MIN.D and the Émonda SLR (Émonda SLR stated weight is 1141 for frame + fork, real painted weight is 1200g and above, while Verticale is 1135g real weight, and some unpainted Tarmac SL8 are well below 1100...)

Back to the Ari though, it is probably not as refined as the other above, but the weight/dollar ratio is definitely very good. The cheapest of the above is probably the TCR advanced SL at $4400, Wilier $5200 with cockpit and seatpost, SWorks is $5500 without cockpit, and Factor is ... priced as a Factor...

Ari on the other end is $2500, backed by a US warranty looks like (no idea how good it is), definitely amazing value

My 2017 Emonda SLR Disc H1 frame weighs 670g. The fork weighs 320g after cutting. What's even funnier is you can still buy the H2 frame from Trek.

I thought 2024 Émonda, my bad. I had no idea you had disc frames this light in 2017. I guess stiffness is not super high? That predates the whole Canyon / Tour Mag optimized stiffness trend?

IIRC bottom bracket stiffness for the 2018 Emonda was around 55 N/mm, a value they clearly target because all Treks old and new hover around there. If anything, people said the Emonda lacked compliance.

That's interesting, definitely some nicely priced options on marketplace for a climbing build that doesn't break the bank

Frameset is/was down to $2K for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Just now finally pulled the trigger and ordered one, but probably won't have it ready to roll until spring. Really would like a Red XPLR groupset but if Force 13-speed appears before it is time to buy will probably have to be sensible and settle for that… Keeping my old FarSports wheels and will probably buy one of their cockpits.
