My measurements based on high PPI photo.
The clearance should be > 64.3 mm

Just make sure you have a backup plan before purchasing a edge 1050.

-Extralight ch01 I had to Dremel just a wee bit of carbon.

- Extralight ch02 mount had plenty of clearance.

- MCFK stem with frames and gear mount, it's a one piece design so I'm kinda stuck with it. The computer fits but have to manipulate the computer a bit to fit.

-AX lightness Ridgid stem with frames and gear mount, ordered the optional longer bracket. It fit on the original but had to fiddle with the computer to make the complete turn.

????

I'm not about the Dremel a $700 computer.

Just a couple of mm of carbon out of the arms on the mount.

Ah, r mount, good choice :) And a nice one at that, looks far more trustworthy than those ubiquitous bolt protrusions.

As you probably guessed i read dremeling carbon as removing material from the cockpit itself and that would rank far ahead of dremeling a GPS, even if it's $700 GPS, in terms of don't ever do that.

This <https://www.ravemen.com/index.php/FR/FR300.html> should work as backup plan as well as being useful running light.

Confirmed on the Ravemen, I'm using it as an intermediate solution.

Anyone having come from a Garmin 1030 Plus, was the 1050 really worth it? Anywhere to find it on sale? Considering my 1030 Plus is probably only worth $200 it seems like an expensive upgrade. I ride Road and MTB

I was poopoo on the 1050 at release because of its weight, battery life, and plastic quarter turn mount (the 1040 was aluminum). After seeing positive reviews I borrowed a friend's 1050 for a couple of rides. The processing speeds, sounds, and most of all the screen was a HUGE upgrade over the 1040. I was lucky it fit all but one of my out-front mounts. Battery life is more than adequate. I just swapped the replaceable plastic quarter turn with an alloy Frames and Gear replacement. My luck with plastic Garmin ears isn't great, broke multiple computers over the years specifically during gravel races. I am completely satisfied with the 1050, the screen is very responsive even with gloves on, and the clarity of the screen under all conditions is also a major improvement. I would pass on the 1030, it would be worth saving up a few more bucks to get the 1050.

Information for any wanting mount for standard stems - Edge 1050 with Silca Chisela mount has nice compatibility and little gap between the Edge (+ silicone cover) and stem, Edge doesn't interfere during mounting.

HideMyBell raceday DM works absolutely perfectly too, plenty of space even with a case on the 1050.

Really debating this now, buddy wants my 1030 plus for 260 and I found the 1050 for about 2x that used like new

Anyone else have a convincing argument? Can you change font sizes? (I know they're just thicker overall). Any new or new looking Data Screens on the 1050 I wouldn't have now? Anyone have photos of some of their data screens or maps so I can get an idea?

You don't have enough detailed reviews with screens and another information you want during these months?

Font size is not changeable.

anybody having an issue with the unit having a gap appearing between the screen edge and the bezel of the unit along the left hand side of the unit.
Im 99% certain it wasnt like that from new because i would have noticed it for sure, but after only 3 months of use its quite noticeable. I need to send some pics to garmin and see what they say, cant see how it can remain waterproof with a reasonable gap there now.
Sorry i dont know how to upload pics to here otherwise i would

Looks like I've got 6.2mm gap with my current mount setup and a 1030 plus, not sure if the 1050 is gonna fit and buying new mounts is just adding to the already high cost of this really unnecessary "want" and not need item. Additionally all of the mounts that do work seem to be metal which I don't want, and custom printed ones are like $50. My biggest concern with the metal mounts is in an accident I feel like if anything is going to break it's going to just rip that mount out of the bar along with the threads.

Think I'll keep my 1030 for a while longer, Garmin really screwed the pooch here. I kinda get why: make it less front heavy on the mount so it doesn't break mounts over rough road but they could have just made it lighter I bet
