Anyone with a 1050 been using it for a while and have some feedback? Currently on a 1030 Plus and unsure if the new stuff is really worth it when it comes to actual usability.

Coming from the 840, the battery lasts about 3 times longer. But given the unit is 3 times bigger, it makes sense.

Getting around 30 hours on it before I charge it (about 30% battery life then left)
SW basically but the same.
I have used the bell a couple of times.
Screen quality is amazing. Very sharp and bright.
I love new more toned down tones for the Varia and lap etc.
No real bugs I have picked up. ANT+ thus far has been pretty solid.

I also got my one and really love the level of customization with mapdashboard, map fields and wind field.
Also liked the 1040, but hated the bugs.
Now I will compare the 1050 against the K3.

Interesting! What made you change from the 840, do you miss the buttons?Spinnekop wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 3:06 pmI have about 1000km now on mine.cleanneon98 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 2:28 pmAnyone with a 1050 been using it for a while and have some feedback? Came from a 1030. Difference is a night/day improvement overall.

Love it. I never thought I'd need a bell on a road racing bike, but I have been using it surpringly often. I paired it to my Shimano shifters. There is a slight lag before the bell rings but you get used to the timing after a while.cleanneon98 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 2:28 pmAnyone with a 1050 been using it for a while and have some feedback? The screen is much brighter in low light environments which is nice, but in sun at midday with no clouds, the visibility can sometimes be tricky just like with the other models. The unit responsiveness is also slightly faster than the 1040 or 1030+. The UI update is also a welcome change. Overall no complaints. Also, finally the gradient lag is gone, though that was always a minor quibble.
So 3 generations back, you have to note it.rollinslow wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 10:31 pmCame from a 1030. Difference is a night/day improvement overall.

I've returned my 1050, and it made me happy that Garmin paid freight both ways. Maybe they'll notice the lost revenue from all the returns like mine and make new products compatible with existing hardware. I scored a 840 off a dude on Craigslist for $250 FTW.robertoguinn wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 8:54 pmJust got a 1050, and it does not fit my Emonda's Bontrager Aeolus RSL VR-C [included] mount. A backwards 1030 also does not fit, but a backwards 1040 does. K-Edge makes a mount for these bars, but theirs won't fit the 1050. I'm going to return the Garmin if I can't find a way to use it on my bike, since the computer and bars cost the same. I've contacted Trek & K-Edge, but not expecting much.
Anyone know of any other aftermarket options for these bars?
Really dissappointed that Garmin failed to consider all the 1-piece bar/stems out there with proprietary mounts when they changed the dimensions of their new computer. They could have made it ~1mm thicker so that it'd be ~1mm shorter with less bezel. Granted, it's already a brick of a bike computer, but they're stupid for failing to even consider the size issue. No way am I going to rubber band this thing on my stem either.
Trek's mount for my bars is 2 pieces - a proprietary single screw part attached to the bars, with a GoPro style connector to the computer extension arm. It appears that this part is long enough per someone's post on the Garmin forum. There are many posts on that forum about how the stupid thing won't fit other bar/stems, which Garmin should pay attention to.
children trust me

Some of the warning messages on the 840 became "suddenly" very unreadable.
I also do navigating every now and again, planning new routes etc. Street names on the map on the 840 and sometime where small singletracks split in a forest can be challenging to read on the fly.
Had to go to a bigger screen.
As for the buttons.
Never missed it. I alway paged with the DI2 remote buttons or the finger.
