I’ve done this too, had my first ride at weekend. Mine is 7.31kg with pedals and 50mm wheelsPaulJ wrote:My SLX 7 AXS turned up last week! It's already fully stripped apart from one stubborn BB cup - new BB tools arriving this week which should work better, beating press fit bearings out with a hammer never feels right, especially on a brand new frame, then I'll be building it back up with 12 speed Ultegra. With the price of groupsets at the moment it is far cheaper to get the SLX 7 and swap the groupset than it is to buy the SLX 8 with Ultegra aready on (minor wheel specs didn't concern me as I'll probably change the wheels anyway, and I didn't want the Shimano PM). I'll be weighing all frame parts, cockpit parts etc as part of the process.
Stock build: Frame (almost) fully stripped down:
I’m waiting on delivery of my farsports 50/58 which are 55gm heavier than current wheels.
I upgraded the following ultegra parts with dura ace, calipers and rear cage. I’m still awaiting on my elilee cranks to drop some more weight.
Bike is fully wrapped with ridewrap and its dark forest. Size small, with 100mm stem and aero drops.

That's a huge drop in weight with the groupset and wheel change, what do the 50mm wheels weigh? I've calculated mine should be ~7.6 without pedals on the DT Swiss with Ultegra groupset.BadBoyR wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 11:36 amI’ve done this too, had my first ride at weekend. Current wheels are farsports hyper in 50mm, 1222gm including tape. I’m using Favero dual assioma pedals.PaulJ wrote:That's a huge drop in weight with the groupset and wheel change, what do the 50mm wheels weigh? Here's the full breakdown of my SLX 7 AXS, for those interested. It weighed 8025g on my hanging scales, so 29.5g more than the seperate components - thats small enough to put down to the difference between the two scales or cumulative rounding errors etc.
Hi everyone, let's talk tyres. 1100 Dicut come with 25F 28R Contis. They are superb, but quite slippery, had crashed and have no confidence on wet roads. Especially coming from Pirelly Cinturatto 32 tubeless. I am thinking about P Zero TLR speedwall 28F 30R (32?). Any recommendations? I am looking for more wet grip and protection.
It was already discussed that these wheels are optimized for 25, but to me it just feels not stable enough and the pressure would be high for tubeless.
By the way, a friend of mine have installed 35 on the back one and it works pretty well.

The GP5k All Season has possibly the best wet grip. I am thinking about running that in a 32c in the back and then the 29c 111 aero tire on the front - which apparently has even better wet grip.FuCH wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 12:36 amHi everyone, let's talk tyres. 1100 Dicut come with 25F 28R Contis. Great idea, will do my research on these 111 aero. Just realised these are tubeless ready. Just in case, what may be another fast but grippy tubeless option and which size would be recommended? It's not only butter smooth roads where I live, bricks, light gravel and winter now.NordicSal wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 5:23 pmThe GP5k All Season has possibly the best wet grip.
