Nice bike but top cap covers still awful. Went with the open cap in the end.

That’s impressive weight for the size. And to confirm that’s pedals, cages etc? What size are those Enve’s? And are they set up tubed or tubeless?
Its reassures me that it’s possible to build an ML with 50-55mm wheels under 7kg.

Wanted to order a pair of the aero bottles through local Trek dealer.
Delivery is expected March 2025 or something like that (to be fair, they could have got one in a week)

I have the RSL version of the handlebar, but the drop bend isn't working for me if i don't increase stack height by substantial numbers.
I bought it to dial fit on my current bike to see what i'd need on a Madone. But to be honest, the handlebar + the FC makes me understand that it's not for me.

So, I finally took delivery of the SLR 8 and went to work trying to figure out weight stuff.
First of all, bike looks good, the BB looks kind of funky (the preload ring is fairly far away from the BB shell, but probably normal as I’ve never had a T47 before). This is the version that comes with Red D1 and the second tier finishing kit/wheels (Pro saddle and Pro 51 wheels).
In a size Large with the cages (but no bottles), Garmin mount, and Dura Ace pedals as standard? 7.75kg. Yikes.
My suspicion ended up being correct. The wheel, tire, rim strip situation is weighing these bikes down.
I compared the bare wheel/tire combo (just wheels with tires installed, no rotors or cassette) against my Enve 2.3s (also no rotors or cassette with Enve SES 29c tires installed). The Aeolus Pro/Pirelli P-Zero Race TLR 28c combo was 2510g. The Enves? 1825g.
With the 2.3s installed, the bike weighed in (again with cages but no bottles, Garmin mount, and Dura Ace pedals) at 7.065kg. If I put some 4.5s on there, probably looking at 7.3ish.

That wheel weight is ridiculous even for stock wheels on such a high end build. In do like the team colours though.

Either the wheels are much heavier than Trek claim or the tires and rim strips are extremely heavy.TwiggyForest wrote:That wheel weight is ridiculous even for stock wheels on such a high end build. In do like the team colours though.

Another moral to the story: should totally be possible to build smaller frames with 50mm wheels in the sub 7kg range.

One last comment: the Garmin mount is too short for the 1050. Anybody find any alternative mount?

Garmin really should have thought about this a few seconds longer..LedZeppelin007 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 11:08 pmOne last comment: the Garmin mount is too short for the 1050. Anybody find any alternative mount?

Apparently, the K-Edge one works. I’ll find out.
