I don't know if there is definitive proof yet since I didn't follow the conversation closely, but when the Exceed came out a lot of people heavily implied that Factor and Seka were producing in the same factory. So that's the first thing that came to my mind when reading this.

To avoid these additional costs (up to 50% additional import costs approx), it may require to change the supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing etc. Although tbh, I don't see how they could legally avoid it anyway if the frames are still manufactured in China itself.gloscherrybomb wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 8:40 pmI'd be surprised if that limited their production capacity. I was wondering if it was labour / factory capacity competition. Someone else came in with a good offer and took available capacity / labour from them.
(My previous job I did customs/tax for the parent company of a.o. Lapierre and dealt with these matters in various court cases).
I watched a youtube video posted by a french guy the other day, my translation is rough but he suggested that Factor were produced on same production lines, they see Seka as a threat and flexed their muslces getting Seka production stoppedbuchstabensalat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:10 pmI don't know if there is definitive proof yet since I didn't follow the conversation closely, but when the Exceed came out a lot of people heavily implied that Factor and Seka were producing in the same factory. That disclose only one thing, that Factor bikes are far to expensive.Blind1967 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 5:53 pmI watched a youtube video posted by a french guy the other day, my translation is rough but he suggested that Factor were produced on same production lines, they see Seka as a threat and flexed their muslces getting Seka production stoppedbuchstabensalat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:10 pmI don't know if there is definitive proof yet since I didn't follow the conversation closely, but when the Exceed came out a lot of people heavily implied that Factor and Seka were producing in the same factory. I think only the RDC was made that factory. I am also not sure what bikes they made for Factor (e.g,. LS vs. Ostro). I dont think that has any bearing on the relative economics of each frame given other potential differences. It did suggest that that Seka was making an effort to work with suppliers that have a good reputation for quality.
cheers, couldnt really see it in those images until the instagram clipnino10 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 5:01 pmYes:

Hi all
Long-time reader of WW, first-time poster. Like blind1967 I've just been into bikesoup and placed an order. Although at the other end of the spectrum - an XL. They reckon 10-14 days for delivery - given Florian bikes are still saying 3 months I don't share their optimism, but let's see. I guess it's possible that Seka are giving some priority to their newest distributor, especially having attended and got hype at Rouleur etc.
This won't be my first Chinese frameset but will be the first with a brand name on it and the first that is more than $1000. Thankfully bikesoup do cycletowork which makes it a considerably cheaper proposition.
Thanks to all here for insight over the last 39 pages - a really useful resource.

Picking up my RDC white from Florian on Thursday. Looking forward to the build. I think it's the first white in Europe.
