The market for the endurance/all road market is really improving.
Really dig this new fray. The colors are not awesome - seems to be a constant thing with enve but I'd get along with that cream white.
This one just entered my wish list which only included the new giant Defy.

Though it clearly says 38mm max w/ 2x, If this could clear 40s with SRAM Road 2x and its annoyingly protruding FD battery, it would really, really make me want to sell my Ostro Gravel.
(please don't let me know if it does clear those tyres..)

Why not opt for the Enve Mog instead? Geometry seems very similar and the frame is actually designed for 40-44 mm tire width.
- Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8 Di2
- Cervelo Caledonia Rival eTap AXS
- Vitus Venon Evo
- Canyon Grail CF SL 8 Di2
Because as a do-it-all bike, I (and this is me) want a road bike that can tackle gravel, not vice versa. The Mog is a bit too much on the gravel spectrum and is likely to have zero aerodynamic properties.
Then again I'd even consider it but, I hate, hate, hate seeing bolts for bikepacking on the fork.

How can it have zero aerodynamic properties?
Also, the Mog has a lower stack than the Fray. If anything, it's the more aggressive fit than the new frame.

The trail on this thing is almost identical to the melee. The biggest difference I can see besides head tube and tt length (which you can compensate with cockpit setup) is bb drop. This thing is actually a bit racier if you're going to run larger tires in the sense that it sticks closer to a traditional race bike bb height.
The clearance when running 38-40mm tires is probably less than ideal if riding on unpaved (and especially wet unpaved) surfaces, but you can run 35mm more safely in that situation than on a melee.

You are not alone in that.
I just bought a Fray - instead of using my Firefly build slot to build an ENVE in-route Road 35mm bike - and now going to use the slot to build a CRUX fast gravel type bike (I like 45mm tires on Gravel the Fray can't do that) and it's driving me nuts that that ENVE Gravel In-route Fork has bike packing mounts. I hate them more than I hate exposed cables.
ENVE goes to all the trouble to hide cables and the only Stem you can get is aero and then they put bike packing mounts on the fork? Really silly.
Stack doesn't matter. Every rider will build their required stack by adding or removing spacers. Provided that I'd use both bikes for the same purposes, I wouldn't position myself lower on a Mog just because it has a lower stack. I haven't seen other important geo figures such as STA, HTA, FC, trail, etc - but I've no reason to believe the Mog wouldn't be ever so slightly more 'tame'.patchandscruff wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 2:10 pmHow can it have zero aerodynamic properties?

The "zero aerodynamic properties" was a hyperbole.
Did you confirm with enve that cables can't go outside the aero stem?morrisond wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 4:00 pmYou are not alone in that.

Good timing as I was on the fence of getting a melee. For me, this is perfect as I can finally reduce the amount of spacers and have a relatively sporty bike. Just picked up my ash fray today.
I agree with you - these new enduance bikes all look great. I'd say the new BMC Roadmachine is impressive too!pmprego wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 7:21 amThe market for the endurance/all road market is really improving.

Funny enough, I was super interested in the Giant Defy until I realized that the Stack/Reach Geometry is near identical to the Cannondale Supersix Evo. I had a Gen 2 SS and it was the best bike I ever owned..... between the Defy and the SS I think I'd choose the latter if the geo is really that close!

The Defy geometry is actually more aggressive because of the -10 degree stem that giant always work with. The handlebar will be lower w.r.t. the supersix.adrockwe wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2024 11:48 pmI agree with you - these new enduance bikes all look great.
