Hope you enjoy riding them - as I said in my first post, party of the reason for getting the ICAN was to get the fit sorted on an aethos (which is now bought!).
The ICAN really was great to ride and is now going to get built up for my daughter.

Interesting minus stem with a stack of spacers. Wouldn’t make more sense to get less minus and remove spacers?iantivey wrote:Hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread, but off the back of your post I also bought an ICAN FL-1, adding the one-piece barstem and 0-degree seatpost.
Weights were -
Frame 838g
Forks (uncut) 388g
Bars 346g
Seatpost 151g
Full build is -

Rotor 3D24 Power2Max Type S

I haven't weighed the full bike yet (need to buy a scale that goes to more than 3kg). I have some FarSports RD270 40mm rims on back order too.

Can you compare and contrast the two bikes please?Beancouter wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 11:03 pmHope you enjoy riding them - as I said in my first post, party of the reason for getting the ICAN was to get the fit sorted on an aethos (which is now bought!).

I'm interested in the Aethos but curious about how much brand and reputation is driving the pricing. With matching geometry it would be great to see what the differences in frame layup make, other than 200g in weight.
It's the "HB22" integrated barstem that came with the bike. I'll have to measure the stem angle (weirdly it's not listed on their website any longer), but I think the top edge of the stem tapering into the flat bar makes it look more negative than it actually is.kode54 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 10:28 amInteresting minus stem with a stack of spacers. There's only one 7.5mm spacer, by the way. The headset cap (if that's what it's called?) it pretty chunky.

Unfortunately it is 85.5mm - would have used my SISL2 otherwiseerickr wrote:The T47 BB, full integration and 27.2 seat tube are very compelling to me. What is the BB width? ICAN is telling me 68mm. If that's true my SISL2s may be resurrected:)

apologies for the delay. The ICAN is a really great frame - If it means anything (clearly not scientific!) racked up a fair number of PBs, so it certainly didn’t slow me down. I can’t measure stiffness but the frame certainly has enough carbon where you need it most (BB, downtube and headtube).Nixster wrote:Can you compare and contrast the two bikes please?Beancouter wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 11:03 pmHope you enjoy riding them - as I said in my first post, party of the reason for getting the ICAN was to get the fit sorted on an aethos (which is now bought!).

When it comes to the Aethos there is something about the it which is very different to any other bike I have owned - it seems to accelerate up hills (and that isn’t a weight thing, just the way that it rides). It is also quite compliant which is noticeable as the roads in Surrey are dire.
When you compare the 2 frames side by side, in my view, the difference in ride feel is understandable - they are different but that’s not a bad thing.

Yeah this is something I asked Joe about regarding the Sohtea, he said they don't list the direct mount part on the site but if you message with the order he'll include it. From the images I suspect for the Sohtea looks like its the Aethos hanger itself.Beancouter wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 10:15 amThe only annoying thing with own mold, is that I can’t get a direct mount for the rear derailleur !
Did a bit of searching and for this Ican FL1 it looks like it could be based on a Colnago C64 hanger Very tempted to follow in similar footsteps with the Sohtea though could also consider buying a used Aethos with some of the non s-works models being in the range of 2700-5500 EUR (2250-4500 GBP) depending on groupset.
I've not built it yet, but I did receive an ICAN FL1 a few weeks ago.

Hi, did you finish your bike ? Any review of the frameset ? I'm considering the FL1, Winspace SLC 3 and Elves Vanyar. Still I didn't decide and having compared all three, the winspace is the lightest. I'm quite tall - 187 cm, so the size 58.
