What size are those tyres (WAM), and would wider ones fit?
The tyres are 30mm, but measure at 32mm on the wide rims (30/24). Clearance wise, 32mm should be fine (I assume they would mount at about 34mm).

I am actually dropping to 28mm on my climbing wheels for weight saving, so will be interesting to see how they look/ride in comparison

A quick review on aesthetics and ride feel. It’s worth saying, the frame is ICAN’s own mold, not open. Also, the carbon layup externally feels really clean (unlike some of the mainstream brands I have owned) and the internal carbon finish is very tidy. The only annoying thing with own mold, is that I can’t get a direct mount for the rear derailleur !

In my view, the frame design is heavily influenced by the T47 BB and ACR internal headset, which means that the down tube is proportionally sized to manage the transition between the two - clearly different from the Aethos which has a ‘standard’ external routing headtube and BSA BB.

Whilst, in my opinion, this takes away from the visual appeal, it does mean the BB is pretty stiff! The seat tube again has a wide transition to the BB, but they have used that to thoughtfully route the Di2 cable (see library picture above).

I am guessing because of the downtube size, the top tube is really slight - great for leg clearance. The seatstays are aethos-like, which does give quite a nice ride feel in the saddle. The chainstays are more like an SL7 than an Aethos.

In terms of general feel, it seems to strike a nice balance between light and stiff, but not harsh - certainly no aero claim. I am 72kg and done have much of a sprint, so never going to put a lot of strain on any carbon frame - that said, when I kick, the rear end seems quite well planted, not skipping around like some of my other recent bikes.

Image

All of the above comes with a big caveat - I running 30mm tyres at 65psi on 30/24 rims, which is going to make most bikes feel quite comfortable! I am also in Majorca and the roads are WAY better than the UK.

When I get it back from vacation I will do some back to back tests with my Tarmac SL7, and against the Aethos when I am out in France in a couple of weeks. It will also allow me to try it out on some of my normal routes which will give me a benchmark against times.

That looks really very tidy, thanks for the write-up, and enjoy Majorca.

Decided to draw a line at 6.3kg (climbing wheels, 30mm deep, 34mm wide with DA34 cassette).

I was just about to swap the cranks (non-PM) and change the tyres, which would have given be about 250g reduction, but decided to stick with the build as is. Really enjoying the ride and know I will end up switching it all back.

Other than the wheels, the final weight savings are from the Hylix seatpost (125g) and seatclamp (7g), plus J&L thru axles (51g). Aside from the weight loss they look better than the stock items. All bought from Liukang1985 from eBay but dealing direct as some items weren’t listed - he was absolutely brilliant!

Final build picture, spec and cost. Worth noting the tyres are 30mm but measure at 32mm mounted, with good clearance front and back.

Nice build. The bike looks great. Also great value for money assuming that the frame was not overly expensive.
You seem to like black bikes. I would maybe go for a splash of colour on the frame.😄

May I ask where you usually hide the AirTag?
Maybe better answer via DM.🥴

Worth saying that I have also disabled the speaker in the AirTag (mechanically) and so it is silent!

Colour wise - LOL! I like a stealth bike. If it turns out to be a keeper I might add some subtle (stealth!) decals. ICAN have given me their image files, as well as the UCI Approved water transfers.

Finally, have reached out to ICAN to get a price on a spare fork - as I said at the top of the thread, part of my plan was to experiment with how much drop I could live with on the handlebars without breaking my glass back (preferably to be able to slam it). Going to work my way down over time but would be good to know that I can source a replacement if it doesn’t work out.

Already have one set and they are excellent - I have been running them for quite a while and way better than the multiple sets I have had from AliE.

I use Tacx Shanti bottles which are a bit fatter than others, and so are quite tight (they scratch the bottles, which is slightly annoying!).

Bike looks great! I would have picked it over the Onirii ONE if I'd known about it. I build up a ONE and it was fun to ride but there were some things I didn't like about it and I ended up selling it after only a month or two so I could start a new bike project. I had some issues dealing with their customer service who were very helpful at first but kept sending me the wrong size of barstem because theirs seemed to all be mislabled. It got really frustrating and finally paypal ended up refunding me for one of the extra barstems I bought.

Beancounter, was it any issue fitting the xcadey PM onto that frame? After the ONE I started building an Enve Melee frameset and I bought an xcadey/rotor compatible PM from Panda Podium only to learn that they do not fit on many t47 bottom brackets. The Melee has a particularly beefy BB area that I thnk could be problematic with a lot of crankets. I ended up returning it to Panda Podium which turned out to be a bit of a hassle but they accidentally over-refunded me and gave back more money than I paid so I didn't complain. I want to support Panda Podium but it was pretty apparent, from my experience with them, that they are indeed a new company that has some internal disorganization. Tom from PP did tell me, after I requested to return it, that he confirmed with xcadey that they do have compatibility issues with t47 bbs. I only realized it could be a problem because I read on Rotor's website that their InSpider PM was incompatible with a few different bb types including t47.

Hi,

The bike looks really good!! I'm actually tempted to get this frame over an aethos.
Did you get a chance to ride the bike long enough to give us your impression about its ride quality ?

Hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread, but off the back of your post I also bought an ICAN FL-1, adding the one-piece barstem and 0-degree seatpost.

Weights were -
Frame 838g
Forks (uncut) 388g
Bars 346g
Seatpost 151g

Full build is -
Dura Ace 11 speed Di2 9170 shifter, calipers, front mech, rear mech.
Rotor 3D24 Power2Max Type S
BOR 52/36 chainrings
Dura Ace 9000 pedals
YBN SLA110 chain (gold)
ENVE 5.4 rims with Chris King R45 hubs
Pirelli P-Zero Race TLR 28mm tyres
Supacaz Fly Bottle Cages
Tune Speedneedle Saddle

I haven't weighed the full bike yet (need to buy a scale that goes to more than 3kg). I have some FarSports RD270 40mm rims on back order too.
