Help me understand please, is the new road groupset from Wheeltop (EDS TX) that's shipping at the moment a pre-production model? Or, is this a finalized product that's expected to be reliable? Considering whether I should buy one now or wait until a "2.0" version, similar to what L-Twoo ERX is about to release.

It's the final gen 1 release I believe. Initially they were just selling the EDS TX Road series in 25 European countries. But they accept special orders and can ship direct from their factory in CN. I just emailed them and got mine here in HK last month before they even officially released the product to HK, UK, Canada & other Asia Pac countries. I think they are currently expanding to other marketplaces and ramping up their production to meet the demands..reason why you might have a slow response and delay in ordering. There are several resellers out there but I would personally recommended transacting direct with Wheeltop if you're really interested..for warrranty and customer support just in case. I can't comment how reliable the groupset is co'z I'm still waiting to complete my build, but there are several reviews and vids already out there that can possibly help you decide. But playing around with it uninstalled, at its pricepoint..I would say they do look promising, quite impressive how fast it shifts..total wt. a bit heavy for my liking and lacks integration with garmin/cycling comps at the moment. After-sales parts probably be available down the line..LekkerBraai wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 3:57 pmHelp me understand please, is the new road groupset from Wheeltop (EDS TX) that's shipping at the moment a pre-production model? I do approx 300km / week since i got it in the begining of march - i have ridden in rain / snow / hail too. It is pretty much reliable - nothing broken during this period shift is precise and on par with older di2.LekkerBraai wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 3:57 pmHelp me understand please, is the new road groupset from Wheeltop (EDS TX) that's shipping at the moment a pre-production model? I wrote an email to Wheeltop asking about mtb derailleur and road shifters compatibility and they answered this:
"Dear ,
We appreciate your love and interest for Wheeltop.
Regarding the issue you mentioned. These products are pre-programmed and designed specifically for road bikes. Therefore, they are not intended to be used in conjunction with mountain bike components.
My assumption is you want to assemble a groupset for gravel bikes. Our product team are developing the EDS for gravel bikes and it will be available in the future.
If you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you and provide the necessary guidance to ensure your satisfaction with our products.
Best regards,
Jane

I just saw that, thanks for the heads up.
Hard to tell from the pictures if there's a clutch on the gravel version, can anyone confirm?
The pictures also show 1x setup... does anyone know if it there will be a 2x setup?
My ideal ride would be clutched rear derailleur with a 2x setup. I think that would go nicely with my 11 speed GRX mechanical setup.
No clutch or 1x only would be a no go for me.

Question about the TX groupset.
Any idea of the chainline? Thinking about this as a gravel groupset but it would need to be 47.5ish mm to fit my GRX cranks.

well these are the sku names, I would assume the "TX" means it's a 2x variant
they'll be at eurobike so we'll probably see more there

Can someone post pairing instruction. the manual is pooely written,
Seems like the EDS GX is planned to launch on Oct 8. Out of curiosity did anyone try to use the mountain version for a 1X setup and if so can you put the tab shifter on top of a dropout handlebar, pure brake levers would also replace the normal speed and brake one. Even better if someone is smart enough to hack the box, connect directly to the board, get two buttons and drill the handlebar an imbed the board in the drops..

Apparently WheelTop just bought a majority stake in Rotor…

Bit odd given wheeltop's expertise was formerly cranksets, but Joe wittingham did say in a podcast we'd be surprised how little rotor was worth and suggested the likes of L-twoo would be able to buy them
What happened to the cool looking crankset that was featured in the leak(?) of GeX a few months back?
