Thanks. I've been looking for the exchange kits for a while, but I don't see stock of both sides anywhere. Some sites are saying they're due back in stock in Decemeber, so I'll probably just wait as I won't be riding this bike until spring anyway. Another tempting option is to buy the complete group on Cyclescheme and get it for 65% of the online price.OtterSpace wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 4:55 pmIf you already have calipers you could get just the shifters where the bigger upgrade is as stand alone parts. Your post got me thinking what order I'd prioritize an E1 upgrade if I had D1:
1) Shifters: Worth upgrading.
2) FD: Worth considering.
3) Calipers: Worth considering but only after, or with, a shifter upgrade.
4) Crankarm: Only worth it if you want a different length or are very weight focused. Its a leading part to consider if starting from nothing but harder to justify if on D1.
5) RD: Likely only worth it if you are very weight or asethetic focused.
6) Chain: Likely only worth it if you are very weight or aesthetic focused. YBN MK120 is what I personally would go with instead but only if in a wax rotation.
7) Chainrings: Personally I'd go force for lower cost and aesthetics.
Sometimes its worth buying things as a set and selling what you dont need. Just make sure to factor in transaction & platform fees etc.

I was in the same boat as you.bobones wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 4:34 pmI think you're right. I can get the shifters/calipers for about £1030, which is still a bit steep when I last year I got the D1 equivalent plus the RD, FD and rotors for a bit less. I think I'll build it up with what I've got and see if prices come down next year.
SL8, bought the shifters and calipers, improvement over ForceRed/AXS is significant.
Initially it was shifters only with Force AXS calipers.
The new calipers offer more modulation and power and are smoother.
My RD was Force AXS, upgraded to D1 Red, cause I got the Ceramicspeed Alpha RS OSPW which alone is very expensive and even though is heavy, I love the look.
For FD I got Rival , cause is only 5 grams heavier than Red D1 and because the cage is better.
I am running D1 crank with Sigeyi and Carbon TI 48-36 rings and the shifting is phenomenal./Though I dub myself SRAM FD cononseur/...
All in all a 56 PRO frame with everything else, pedals, cages, mounts , etc is 6.75kg
What do you mean when you say the cage is better on the Rival FD than the Red?

Some of you guys need to go back just a few posts. Feel like all this D1-vs-E1 performance descriptors have been covered at considerable length by trustworthy members. The very first and only absolutely necessary change should be E1 front derailleur. Shifters next.

The new calipers did nothing for me, compared to the rivals.andy4g63 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:51 pmI was in the same boat as you.bobones wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 4:34 pmI think you're right. Hard to wrap my head around that someone who does this for living could be that incompetent... Buy yeah happens in other businesses... Still pro team mechanic should be better then "pro" bike(shop) mechanic nick from cade mediaTobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 4:19 amKubackjeee wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 2:44 amYeah for sure a pro bike mechanic can't properly set 3 bikesgloscherrybomb wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:08 pmFor a start, a chain between top gear and spokes can only be because of a bad limit screw setting, so I'm not sure I'd take it too seriously. Maybe they had a bad batch of chains.robeambro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:32 pmThoughts? I didn't think there were (m)any changes with the new chains.

Pro mechanics often are set in their own ways and not up to date with the best practices for new equipment.
Seems more likely they used a solvent/degreaser they shouldn’t have, such as Simple Green or any degreaser mixed with too much water and that led to hydrogen embrittlement.

Does everybody use recommended Paceline X rotors? At 132g for 160mm rotor I am tempted to save more than 20g per rotor and use Shimano XT RT-MT800. Any reason for taking Paceline X besides brand purity? Will they be stronger, more silent...? Saving weight is nice but braking is important so checking with you... Thanks!
I emailed with a Dutch shop for the Red Xplr groupset to ask for a BF deal. They said sure, we'll discount it. Next day I check their website and they have taken 25 euro's of the price....
So far no good Black Friday prices for Red Xplr .

I wouldn’t expect discounts on Red E1. Force D2 and Rival D1 on the other hand… E1 versions of both have been seen floating around these parts.
Red E1 2X has some nicer discounts over here:TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:02 pmI wouldn’t expect discounts on Red E1. Force D2 and Rival D1 on the other hand… E1 versions of both have been seen floating around these parts.
