Finally a good cockpit. BMC ICS Carbon Aero.
Moderator: robbosmans
Finally a flared one piece cockpit with narrow tops and wide drops. Gonna wait until Enve comes out with theirs and then pick one up. All stem lengths (80-140) have the same tops c-c (36) and drops c-c (42).

not that I've found yet, definitely gotta sus that out
If this is truly a different offering than the ICS setup they spec on their road bikes with D shaped steerers, then it looks like a great option. But they certainly haven't made it clear how "ICS for All" it is, and make no claims that its intended for other brands...
Waiting for enve's cockpit, then. FFS

Stem is round internally; they use wedges to mate to the flat sided steerer. See https://www.bmc-switzerland.com/media/d ... Manual.pdf.aeroisnteverything wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 3:27 pmAre we sure about this square steerer hypothesis? On parts schematic, looks like there is an internal sleeve for installation on the d-shaped steerer (presumably for the new BMC teammachine R), but otherwise the stem is round inside?
Don't like the short reach - 72.5mm. Reduces the benefit of the flat tops as a forearm rest. The shorter the reach, the more the triceps have to work. IMO 80 - 90mm, even 100mm would be better, particularely given the assumed target market. I also find that the further up my forearm the contact, the more comfortable it is - just more padding at that part of my arm. Down by the wrist is a bit too boney.

Well - Roval Rapide reach is 75 mm and some of that extra reach is negated by the fact that the bars have a forward sweep, so the section where your forearms would rest is perhaps the same.Mr.Gib wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 4:25 pmDon't like the short reach - 72.5mm. Vision Metron reach is 80mm, but again, the bars have 10 degree forward sweep - visiby more than Roval.
EXS Aerover reach is 70mm in compact version, and no forward sweep.
Mayble only Enve has meaningfully longer reach at 79mm.
Agree! That's why I have the Pro aero vibe pursuit with 102mm reach and 36 hoods 40 drops. This BMC bar is maybe even a bit too wide ad the drops and it might be easy to tangle in a peloton if holding from the hoodsMr.Gib wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 4:25 pmDon't like the short reach - 72.5mm. May i ask, do you have a picture where you have these bars, like a side view picture?Edopizzo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 10:56 amAgree! I just want to know how they are if you have the top section horizontal. The 36 size, if you measure the drop from center at the top to the center at the bar tape plu hole, how much is the drop?
