Little tip for anyone who doesn't like the fact that the Spesh mount tilts down instead of level.. I put a small piece of bartape (approx 10mm x 4mm) on the lowest inside edge of the mount (between mount & bars), so it is hidden, but keeps the mount & Garmin level.

I have a SL8 frame waiting to be built since late July but the cockpit is out of stock in Europe (380 x 115). It was supposed to be in stock in September but now a bikeshop like Bike24 which always specified "available in 5 - 10 days" just specifies "out of stock". Is there anyone who knows when these will become available again?

These (38cm) have just come into stock in Australia in the last 2 weeks (stores not Spesh website), and some stores still have stock, so maybe there is some global supply trickling out again.

I know pretty common knowledge but just to make sure...
Are you installing the expander plug and tightening it before you put the bar on? That might be your problem.
When you put the expander in and tighten it inside steerer, the steerer diameter grows ever so slightly.

Put expander in without tightening, slide bar on, tighten expander, then tighten bar stem pinch bolts.

Yep that does make it easier. Although If you need to adjust the bars once the plug's in then using a tyre lever as suggested earlier is a great method. Especially if you want to ensure minimum torque to get your preload set right.

What are the available options for aftermarket top cap and bolt?

I'm interested specifcally in

- Aluminum top cap bolt that doesn't protrude like the OEM bolt
- Replacement top cap

I have found some Ti bolts, but I'd prefer to use Aluminum and I haven't found a good source for this.

I'm currently designing an R-Works WW topcap and bolt.
Available very soon...

Always makes me nervous prying carbon things like that but admittedly, my bad experiences with that has always been with ultra light exotic carbon stuff like Darimo etc. I'm sure less fragile products would be just fine.

Yeah you only needs a small amount of pressure to do what you need it to. It's a hefty bit of carbon, sure it'd take a lot of force to crack that bad boy

There's also the "HOPP carbon top cap roval rapide" or the "Alpitude Manghen top cap for Roval Rapide Cockpit" although I believe both come with a Ti bolt.

The HOPP carbon top cap comes with an aluminium bolt (2 Nm)

Are any of them actually tilted down? I looked at a few and they all including mine set parallel to the ground. Since the stem is -6 degrees it creates an illusion that the mount is tilted down but it's actually not. I see it's a common complain and was concerned miself before I got my Rapide bar.

Is your like that too?

I have the roval Garmin mount and it seems there is some play between the gps and the mount. Sometimes I hear a rattle noise with road vibration.

It seems the gap between the Garmin adapter and the Garmin back over is bigger than it should be.

Is this supposed to be normal?
Or an aftermarket Garmin mount could solve the issue?

Agreed. I was also concerned about this, but to my eye the angle is perfect (flat).

Yes, mine too is a tad looser than what I would like. Definitely less tight than an original Garmin mount. But at least mine doesn't rattle - yet..

Mine was definitely tilted down (checked with spirit level), and have seen a few others similar pictured in this thread as well. I suppose it depends on your frame size as that will dictate the head tube angle, maybe smaller (54 & below) frame sizes it's less of an issue? My frame is 56 (also a SL6), it was a few mm's tilted down but with the sliver of tape it is now level. Prob would have got used to it, but you know how it is with those things, once you see it, you can't unsee it!
