I don't think so. The sum of the parts actual weights weighted individually as they came in was 6.65 kg. I'm sure I missed a few screws and such and that was without sealant (but was with an uncut fork so I figured that'd be close to a wash). It's pretty close to what I expected it to be (wanted a light build but wasn't chasing the lightest possible build). It started as a reuse of parts I had then slowly became a completely new build. Bar ends, seat and post, bars, big cassette and tires aren't particularly light.

I've FINALLY joined the club!

I would have preferred to build frame up, but a bike shop (PedalHeads Cycles) in a different state to me had a size 52 in stock. It was Shimano complete (I prefer SRAM) and I was willing to settle for Dura-Ace but the shop has gone above and beyond by moving over a complete SRAM Red E1 groupset from another SL8 to my bike (this colour would otherwise only be available on a Shimano Dura-Ace build).

I got to spec a 380mm x 115mm Roval cockpit too (the bike would have come with 400mm x 90mm which would have been too wide and short).

I still can't get over spending this much cash on a bicycle... it's insane. But I'm beyond excited! Bike will be with me week after next!

Congratulations! I really enjoy my (very similar) SL8, sadly it's worth every penny just for the ride feel and handling.

Congratulations!!
I've been following you at the Allez project and also the SL6.

You just got, in my opinion, the only disc brake frame that remembers me de lightweight performance of the SL6 but also is faster and super comfortable!
Enjoy your ride!

Ha. Those pictures are literally off of the stand and before I even sat on it but I definitely ride a forward seat so fair point. Still have a couple of things to do before I ride it but will post some as ridden pics in a few days.

To this, here is the build sheet. I missed weighing batteries and probably some other bolts and stuff but pretty close to the actuals.

Why spec a 160mm rear disc?

No good reason. All my other bikes have 160 rears and I've gotten use to them. Never even considered 140s because if I wanted to put some wheels from another bike on, it'd be a direct swap.

Why spec a 160mm rear disc?
Because not everyone is small and weighs 60 kg. Not everyone lives in flat regions.
Many bikes are delivered with 160mm f/r fir larger frames (my Scott Addict RC or Canyon Aeroad).

‘In my opinion a pair of 140mm rotors look nicest, but as many riders are over 80kg there is a chance braking performance can be affected in certain conditions,’ says Giacomo Sartore, groupset product manager at Campagnolo.‘This is why we recommend either a pair of 160mm rotors or 160mm front, 140mm rear. With those options a rider can drag their brakes all the way down the Stelvio and not suffer any dip in performance.’

Sram’s road product manager, Brad Menna, agrees: ‘We recommend 160mm for road applications. That’s what provides the most power and best system performance for the widest range of riders and uses.’

Shimano’s Ben Hillsdon also agrees, and explains why 160mm rotors might be better able to cope in certain situations.
