I'm changing my cranks to SRAM red axs e1 dub.... can anyone recommend a decent dub bsa compatible bottom bracket without breaking the bank. From what I hear the sram dub bb iOS not very good.
I bought this one from Bikone.
https://www.bikone.com/producto/dctech-bsa-68-73mm-dub/

I have not ridden it yet. Still building up my bike. It is very well constructed though and I like the extended sleeve design.
Did you fit this Bottom bracket yet?... and if so what do you think of it and what spacers did you need on DS and NDS.... thanks.
@Charlie69 I installed the BB and only have about a 100 miles on it. So far it's been good.

Thanks very much... have you any idea what spacers I need to fit a SRAM red E1 chainset to my Sl8 using this bottom bracket ?

@Charlie69 you can find the spacer specifications on SRAM's website.

A new frameset color, and I have to say, it might be my favorite yet... again, I love the minimal branding, without the "specialized" on the fork and chainstay.

Without that s-works logomark would have been even better. Their 2023/24 Dune Gloss color (almost invisible S-Works) on the white marble gloss frame is stunning. Almost looks like a custom bike.

Having one in that color, I would have to agree :D I get a lot of "what bike is that?" questions from other cyclists since there's barely any logo visible on it and the paintwork looks out of the ordinary.

I hear you.... 7.2 for a

Project Black 56, 400x100
DA with SRM Look Carbon, DA pedals
Ronin Mirror, S-Works Cage, Wahoo Mount
Rapide Team with Conti S TR (28/30 TL)

Despite the wide tires I was hoping to be < 7.0
Same here ....
7.1kg without computer, lights, Bidon

still looking for an explaination

Size 54, 420x110
Wahoo Powrlink dual pedals
S-works Mirror
3d print wahoo/garmin mounts
Bora Ultra WTO with 30mm strada bianca tires (TPU tubes)

By changing the tires i could easily drop 100g, however beside the tires there is not much room for weight improvement and it comes at the price of loosing puncture resistance and comfort.

IMG_0893.jpeg
listed weight of 56cm da di2 sworks is 6620g
you added 276g pedals, that leaves about 200g for cages and mounts, differences in cockpit dimensions + stack of spacers, bar tape.

What weight were you expecting?
I did almost the same plausibility check

The frame size is smaller. Maybe it gets offset by my rather large cockpit dimensions and stack of spacers or is there more potential?

The pedals are definetely adding weight. However, the wheelset should be almost 200g lighter than the stock wheels (clx ii).

The groupset maybe is heavier than the di2. Disregarding this position for a stock bike (56) with the mentioned modifications, a system weight of approx. 6'690g before mounts should result. Another 100g can be added for the tires and again also for said mounts. This still leaves approx. 200g of "non" explained system weight in my case.

So I was expecting to be clearly below 7kg.
I apologize in advance if someone already pointed this out. It looks like the Strada tire is about 100 grams heavier per tire vs stock Specialized tire, so that maybe the 200g delta you are looking for.

New Bike Day!

Image
MagCAD computer mount.

Image
Size 52, 6.85kg's as pictured but now lighter with Galfer rotors + Absolute Black lockrings at 6.75kg's.

Nervousness, paranoia, anxiety, buyers remorse, just some of the things I've been feeling the past few days, but really happy to say that my SL8 got to me earlier today without issues!

A sticker on the bike suggests the bike was born on the 8th of May 2024 (nice!). The paint is amazing in real life. So much detail up close.

The bike came with a Roval computer mount (I have one on my Allez, it's a solid unit). I didn't know it was going to come with one and had ordered a 3D printed MagCAD computer mount. The Roval mount weighs in at 52g, and the MagCAD weighs in at 18g so I've decided to remove the Roval and install the MagCAD one.

Owning and dialling in the fit on my SL6 (also a size 52) was a blessing as it's made setting up the SL8 a breeze. The SL8 came with a 15mm offset seatpost which I've replaced with an S-Works 0 offset seatpost and the bike setup is now pretty close to my SL6 (5mm longer reach as the Roval cockpit on my SL8 has a 115mm stem).

Sadly the 0mm offset seatpost is pretty porky at 173g (the 15mm setback post was 141g). I'll most likely look into either a Hylix, or Darimo, or Alpitude seatpost at some point down the line, but for now this heavy and weird looking 0 setback seatpost is doing it's job.

The S-Works Power with Mirror saddle looks super wide and it's heavy at 203g. I've got to at least test it out though, who knows? It may kill me with comfort.

Also moved my Galfer rotors off my Allez Sprint. Replaced the rear SRAM Red 160mm with the Galfer 140mm and also installed Absolute Black Lockrings and Graphen Pads (same weight as the SRAM pads at 20g/pair).

Issues: I've read of a lot of owners with a gap between the headset dust cover and frame, and yup, mine has it. I've also read of people complaining about the top cap bolt not fitting flush, and yup, mine has that too, but worst of all I've read of SL8 owners noticing that their front wheel isn't dead centre, and happy to say I do not have this issue (phew!).

Locked in to go for a ride tomorrow morning. Can't wait!

Stunning color and build!

This one you bought a completed bike right? Notice there is no this particular colorway for the 2025 frameset option.

Yes bought as a complete. When I was finally ready to buy an SL8 all the size 52 framesets were sold out, so my only option was to buy a complete with Dura-Ace. I was willing to settle for Dura-Ace over Red E1 but on hearing that I prefered Red over Dura-Ace the shop I bought the bike from suggested that they could move over a full Red E1 groupset from a size 49 SL8 at no additional cost (in their words "you're buying a premium bike and with that comes premium service"!). Winning as I love Red E1 and I also get shorter 165mm cranks AND they also let me choose my 380/115mm Roval Rapide cockpit at no additional cost.

Beautiful!!!!! WOW! I want my SL8 so bad now.
Cheers Rich! It better be damn good considering how much hype it has and how expensive it is. Visually I think it looks a bit odd in pictures but absolutely AMAZING in real life. I've watched many hours of people riding SL8's, and have so many saved SL8 photos, but man, that speed sniffer headtube in real life is nothing at all like the pictures. It's far from bulky, it's actually quite narrow front on, and it looks super aero. The seatube is crazy aero too, and the quality of the paint is awesome (and very hard to capture in photographs).

I'm super torn between leaving it as is, dead stock and fully functional vs. shaving grams off it. I've taken off the rear 160mm rotor and replaced it with a 140mm Galfer and already I think the Galfers (both front and back) just look so much weaker (the Red rotors with their black centres actually tie in with the bike more).

Ultimately I know what I need to do, and that's just to leave it as is for now and just ride the hell out of it!

Hello,

I've designed a small 5.6g support for Airtag inside / below my seatpost.

Hope you like it.
