I've had a BBInfinite in my R5 for about 8 years, never needed to touch it. I wouldn't worry about removing it

While not LONG term, I have about 3500 miles on a BBI BSA DUB WS2 ceramic bb. No issues.trex wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 3:21 pmAny long term reviews of the BSA DUB WS2 ceramic bottom bracket?
I saw on Rhino's IG that he had problems in his Crux with it. A friend of mine also had one half-dead bearing after less than 4000km.
Is this something that has been corrected or is it better to choose another manufacturer?
I also have about 5k miles on a BBI BSA 30mm WS2 ceramic bb. I know you specifically say DUB. I can't imagine there is much difference between them in terms of reliability. I have had absolutely zero issues with mine.
I don't think ceramic matters but I like the idea of a lifetime warranty. The BBI people were super responsive and helpful when I asked a couple of questions. More than I can say about some other vendors.
AFAIR there was just a short IG story on Rhino's account about how a bearing died in his Crux after 100, 150 (?) miles.
He is with us on the forum - maybe he will comment on it somehow?
Thank you for your feedback!
I know there is a lifetime warranty, but I really don't want to pay again for shipping, VAT and customs every few thousand miles.
Not to mention that replacing the bearing in the BSA DUB is quite difficult - there is basically no lip from the inside.

Well engineered and thought out BBs.
My only concern would be the 4030 bearings and their durability for offroad use. Being 2mm smaller than a 6806 (4230), the bearing uses smaller (see as weaker / less durable) ball bearings. As mentioned above, my SS unit died after about 150km. The bearing seals are also not really protected from the elements at all, so water / mud can get in behind the shields very easily.
The BSA30 unit (WS2) on my SL8 has been rock solid, but obviously used in very different conditions.
I think BBI really shine with their PF24 units, for other BB standards, I'm recommending Enduro XD15 for foul weather and offroad (far far better protetion / durability), and CS Coated for race bikes.
XD15 is probably the best for 99% of folk out there and can choose to run the extra seals or not.
I've also been very impressed with BikOne 24mm BBs, but their DUB/30mm not as good.

Do you consider the lack of plastic sleeve of XD-15 bearing a problem for alu axles like SRAM DUB?

Replaced with C-bear instead.... 10 gram heavier
Somehow my PF30 WS2 coated BBinfinite on Cannondale Scalpel SI is the only bearing that really last and spin forever. On road bikes it somehow gets fcked.

It was the right-side bearing which became rough after six weeks /~1600 km of riding for my BSA BB, too.eucalyptus wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:39 pmI had/have that exact bearing with a THM clavicula SE crankset. i've been hearing a dreadful creak on my crux and was considering a bbinfinite to replace the sram bsa dub bottom bracket but maybe it would be better to just stick with sram replacements
