2022 Canyon Aeroad Headset Bearings
Moderator: robbosmans
Does anyone know where to source upper and lower headset bearings for a 2021/22 Canyon Aeroad? I'm working on my bikes and the upper just disintegrated in my hand. I'm in the US if that helps.
Thanks!
Thanks!

At canyon ?
They used to use accros headset
The expensiver ones have ceramishite slt headset bearings, that sounds great on paper but are only average at best ( from real world mechanics having to clean them and change them already despite their claims on some factor ostro for example)

If it "disintegrated in my hand" certainly you can easily measure the bearings yourself…?
This bearing kit, which for some reason is not listed on their US store, claims to be for most model years of the Aeroad. I am however quite doubtful, as it also claims to fit the Ultimate and Endurace, but one of the specified sizes does not match what I have in my Ultimate…

The exploded drawing of the Aeroad SLX/CFR does not list the headset as an "aftermarket part" and has no part number nor spec:

Acros does not list the Aeroad 2021+ on their own list of Canyon headsets:

Thanks for the info. I can certainly measure it myself, but I don't know what the angle of the bevel is, nor have a way to measure it. I found a shop in Germany that has the listed part number, but it also doesn't say its for a 2021/22 Aeroad. Fingers crossed it fits.MayhemSWE wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 5:01 pmIf it "disintegrated in my hand" certainly you can easily measure the bearings yourself…?

I just can't understand how the upper bearing failed so quickly. The bike has only seen rain one or two times and is always garage kept. It seems the seals have failed very early in its life. Is this normal? This is my first headset bearing replacement.

Might want to give FSA a call - their headset bearings are used in a crapton of bicycles. https://www.fsaproshop.com Another possibility would be Enduro Bearings https://cycling.endurobearings.com Headset bearings are normally pretty robust - hard to believe one would disintegrate after only a couple of years. You would think they would sieze up long before they fell apart. Canyon USA HQ is in Carlsbad, CA https://www.canyon.com/en-us/contact/. 833-226-9661 Good luck!
Seems like a question & garantuee issue for Canyon? Headset bearings are not very good quality I experienced with several Canyon bikes over the years. Although I almost never cycle in the rain they still rust and "crack" really quick

look here, see if they have them they work https://www.airevelobearings.com/?s=can ... pe=product
They are the same as used in the last gen Aeroad and Inflite, you can buy them from Canyon in Europe or some other brands like posted above. I'm pretty sure the dimensions are more or less unique to these frames so I dont think FSA or Enduro is the way to go

If they are the same as last gen Aeroad, you can get them from eBay:

I´m running them trouble free in previous gen Aeroad. No play in headset, dims are exactly the same as Acros bearings.
No reason to spend so much on original bearings from Canyon.

A huge thank you to all. I sourced some from Germany and had expedited shipping. Hopefully it will get through customs and be here by Friday. I'm very surprised that the upper bearing failed so quickly. I heard it grinding a bit and decided to take a look. Upon removal, the entire thing fell apart and was completely covered in rust. Little rusty ball bearings fell all over the garage floor. Very disappointing.

So not even stainless steel bearings ?
I mean stainless steel can surface rust but not that much
What a joke

If the bearings on the new Aeroad are the same as all of Canyons other bikes with straight 1-1/4" steerer tubes, then Enduro do have a nice stainless albeit expensive set. I use those on my Ultimate CF SLX Disc.

Those are the exact ones I bought. They arrived today and the CFR is back in the fight! For the work required to change them out on the new Aeroad, going with an expensive set is well worth the time saved in the future.MayhemSWE wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 6:55 pmIf the bearings on the new Aeroad are the same as all of Canyons other bikes with straight 1-1/4" steerer tubes, then Enduro do have a nice stainless albeit expensive set. Here are the pages for the headset installation. Note that you will need to remove the brake hose from the levers then cut the olive off to remove the flange from the hose to pass it through the headset and bars. You will then need to reinstall the metal barbed end in the brake hose and reinstall the flange and olive and bleed.
