Presumably those are max dimensions measured at the various buttons and maybe a slightly thicker USB port cover.

Thought so, too. The new one measured with buttons and mounting plate, the old one right at the body of the unit.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:59 amPresumably those are max dimensions measured at the various buttons and maybe a slightly thicker USB port cover.

Nothing currently on the market tempts me.
Bike computer design seemed to hit a brick wall somewhere around 2019.
I currently use a Garmin 530, but it's nothing special.
I would like;
More precise GPS
Better phone integration (always dropping out with my Iphone 13 and 14)
Intergrated camera (doesn't have to be hi-res)
USB-C charging
Smaller, lighter, more aero for same size screen.

Well if Wahoo can't measure things properly then we have a problem (mean 5mm and 3mm is quite a lot...) but that won't be the first time Wahoo cheats on sizes (twice they photoshopped their GPS to make the screen wider and the bezels thinner...)splzd wrote: ↑Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:43 amI don't think that's true.
Although wahoo claims these dimensions in their shop:
Roam v1: Physical Dimensions: 3.5" x 2.3" x 0.7” (89mm x 54.4mm x 17.8 mm), Display Size: 2.7" (68.58mm)
Roam v2: Physical Dimensions: 3.56" x 2.34" x 0.8” (9.05cm x 5.95cm x 2.05cm), Display Size: 2.7" (6.9cm)
GPLama and DC Rainmaker mentioned in their reviews, that the v2 has the same dimensions as the previous one - see the screenshot from GP Lama (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUOnshtapoo&t=375s), v2 on the left.

The new main buttons are convex. The side button has been repositioned. The charge port has changed to a Type-C port. I don’t think the measurement technique has changed, the max dimensions really have grown just because the rubber bits protrude a bit more.
What do you mean? Like a dashcam or more like a GoPro?
Smaller and lighter will not happen, if a camera is integrated.
I'm with you in regards of temptation. There has been no real evolution in the recent years, just minor improvements. I hope SRAM pushes Hammerhead to some real innovations and delivers a further improved karoo v3, maybe next year. Since I'm on AXS on most of my bikes I'm hoping for better integration.

The most precise GPS I’ve seen is the Karoo 2, hands down. Nothing even comes close to drawing really tight lines over the same course like in a criterium (with lots of other radio devices causing interference.)
Shame it’s not quite there. I look forward to where SRAM can take the next generation device.

Acer made a bike computer called the Xplova with an integrated camera. Not sure I want that level of integration. There’s overheating, RFI, battery life and overall quality concerns. If a camera can’t at least put out Hero 5 quality video, it’s junk IMO. If it can’t capture a white license plate in less than ideal lighting conditions, it’s junk.
Longer battery life and higher GPS accuracy are mutually exclusive. Current Garmins are getting their long battery life by recording very few GPS trackpoints

More aero for a GPS unit? The world really has gone nuts when people are asking for stuff like this.
There is zero innovation this past 2 to 3 years in this segment, more marketing BS than real improvement. Garmin have not been reliable to me and most cyclist here in Asia, we will stick to Old Wahoo.................
