0mm seatpost MCFK vs Schmolke TLO - cost???
Moderator: robbosmans
I am in the market for a light weight, 27.2, round, zero offset, UD carbon post and have narrowed it down to these two:
https://www.mcfk.de/en/111/seatpost-wit ... DM_272_420
https://www.schmolke-carbon.com/product ... -seatpost/
In my perferred configuation the MCFK is approx 290 Euros and the Schmolke is 520 Euros! Granted the Schmolke is claimed to be ~15g lighter but still! I am leaning towards the MCFK because of cost, availability and the matte UD finish will match my bike better than the Schmolke's gloss UD finish. That said, if there are issues with the MCFK I would spend the extra for the Schmolke.
The Darimo T1 posts are popular with WWs but I can't wrap my head around their Dyneema loops.

Dyneema loops are really cool
You can get a Darimo with the old carbon yokes if the ropes are a concern for you. Used both and a Schmolke on the past and the Darimo is the only one that never damaged the carbon rails.

The story is that my MCFK seatpost broke around the clamping area and I contacted MCFK customer service and they were pretty rude about it. I was already in contact with them at that time as I had bought defective seatpost/handlebar decals (Black/transparent ones), they had promised to send me new decals but they never did. Awful customer service, do not recommend.
I did manage to make my own replacement seatpost for about 60€.

My MCFK seatpost got dent around clamping area of internal wedge on my ex Factor LS, where i was using around 4Nm only.
Owner was pretty hesitant, but in the end sent me new seatpost.
