Those looking for an alternative, just got my Tavelo Avro. 40/120. 351g with no mount, 391g with wahoo mount. It came very very nicely packaged. Hopefully they are stiff.

Unfortunately not an alternative if you have OD2 steerer tube.

I was also looking at Avian Falcon, but I gave up after seeing the last pictures in the thread about them.

Any other alternatives that would integrate nicely with Scott Addict RC?
I'm aware of Farsports but I don't like their square look.

Looking for 380x120 size.

Hey, I have no idea what’s going on, but I tried replying three times now, and all 3 messages are still stuck in the outbox.

What I said is the bike is MY23 Propel. Giant’s own stem is also 10deg, so I could use the stock spacer if I wanted to, it was a pretty good fit. Billy of EXS is actually in London this week at Rouleur Live. I am going to pay him a visit on Friday. He might have spacers on him, as I guess he expects to sell the exhibits.

120x360 was 312grams. Really like the looks and feel on my FOIL.

My stem-bolts keep coming loose after a ride. Locktite didn't help either. Are you guys torqueing beyond 5nm?

I was having the same issue. I put some carbon paste on the carbon shim, steerer tube and handlebar, then retorqued the bolts after one ride. Haven't had any issues since then, and haven't gone above 5nm, which is actually as high as I'd really want to go in this application. Of course, torque is a pretty inexact proxy for bolt tension, but this is a whole other can of worms. If you haven't gone the carbon paste route I'd try that first. But also know that regardless of the accuracy and precision of your torque wrench, the bolt still may not be tight enough.

Just got my new Aerover in 360 x 130 (thanks forklifter!!), and have swapped out the Roval 400 x 135.

When you say coming loose meaning it can't keep the headset preload? I have the Avian bar and the headset preload kept coming loose. I replaced the stock Ti bolts with steel bolts and problem solved. You could tighten a Ti and a steel bolt both to 5NM. But the steel bolt will keep the clamping force twice better than a Ti bolt, because steel is twice as stiff as steel.

If you tighten a steel bolt and a ti bolt to Nm, the clamping for will be the same assuming the friction factor is the same. Yes, the ti bolt will stretch twice as much (neither bolt is stretching much at 5Nm), but you will have to turn the Ti bolt more in order to reach this torque. The stretch is taken up during the tightening. If you're using angle torque things change, obviously. My guess is if you experienced slipping with the Ti bolt and didn't when you replaced it, it's due to the friction factor being different (and even removing and installing a bolt is going to change that as it's cleaning the threads, changing the FF; i.e. you could uninstall and reinstall the same bolt and FF will change, resulting in higher bolt tension).

Regardless, I don't think it matters here, as I'm pretty sure EXS uses steel bolts for the bar/stem junction. That's what was in mine.

Your assumption is incorrect. The material’s stiffness is directly related to the bolt’s clamping force.

Steel vs. Aluminum bolt: If you tighten a steel bolt and an aluminum bolt to the same torque, the steel bolt will likely generate a higher clamp force because steel is stiffer and has a higher modulus of elasticity.

Umm . It's not an assumption, v it's basic engineering. The standard torque equation to determine clamp force does not use bolt elasticity. Why? Because it doesn't matter.

Torque methods that use measurements (turn-of-nut),: then of course bolt elasticity is a factor.

Torque is simply a measurement of the tension required to twist something to a set tension. 5 NM is 5 NM,v whether it takes you 20 turns or ten turns to get there. By definition, the tension is the same. The only variable here is K factor ( friction within the joint)
