So, let's recap. The new lids are:
- heavier
- uglier
- more expensive
- with an inferior fastening system (in the case of Evade)
- but with better ventilation (something no one ever complained about for the Prevail)

So is the general consensus then that on the whole, the new products are a definitive step backwards over the previous genereation? What a time to be alive.

Unfortunately, that sums up my thoughts too.

A shame as I REALLY like my current Evade II.

So, uhm... where are all the nice colours?

There's only white, black and red available. But none of the nice colours (like the white/yellow or the blue version). And they are all mat - who wants a mat helmet? They are a annoying to clean.

I'd like these glossy colors:

How different tastes are.🙂 The white yellow does not look good at all imo. I love the all white. It's my favorite helmet color, as on the Poc Venral air and the HJC Ibex 2.0 vintage white. I am tempted.

The weight is 270g, so about the same as the old one.

I am not that surprised. Helmets have gotten heavier and heavier with more safety being prioritized.

Had the prevail 3 and evade 3 fit in my local store.
Prevail fitted not good on my head.
Evade = perfect

See the room that they have now to improve for the next gen! Just like apple who went from 4 to 2 usb ports just to be praised when then moved from 2 to 4 ports (again!). There are no magic solutions so they just go in circles.

Question: on the tt photos, why do they all seem to be wearing some type of a black scarf!?

Apparently part of the helmet to lock your head position in

I guess most strive for safety first which is why helmets are getting heavier. Wavecell was said to be the safest system and Bontragers XXX helmet weighs a whopping 390g.

It would be nice if they had a light option for the same helmet. Like Poc did with the Ventral Lite. It's basically the same as the Ventral Air but 60g lighter. The new Ventral Air with Mips instead of Spin is now 10g heavier than the old Spin modell.

nice. "don't move your head dumbass!! you're losing watts!"

I understand the safety aspect but let's not foul ourselves: road bikes are not safe! My motorbike helmet is 1.5kg

Some people claim that helmet weight doesn't matter, and heavier is not noticeable. Which I don't agree with. The more aggressive your position is, the more is helmet weight noticeable.
