Speedplay or time

I myself ride the new nano and althought the wahoo version has a tighter cleat I still think the no maintenance puts them in the same category as other pedals. As far as cleat goes I think you have more options with SP on the cleat angle, shim, rotaion and float adjustability that other pedals do not offer. Plus SP has the lowest stack hieght in the industry if you get SP specific shoes...
That's good to know! Thanks!BdaGhisallo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:38 pmThey are available in the US. Qarv Imports are the US distibutors and they carry the pedals and all the replacement parts.pegotico wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:57 pmI will take a look at the review. Something i dislike is the lack of availability in the US...Thanks again!BdaGhisallo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 4:04 pmHave a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=90491&hilit=keywin+crm

I guess the Nano QC must be very good considering the price. They definitely look way better than the old SP, i just dont want to go over the Zero on price. The shoes are very limited, i saw like two brands and i think it would be better to spend the money on a standard road shoe just in case i change the pedals down the line, though as everyone has mention the adjustability is the best with SP. And the price is amazing too!!! Thanks!CustomMetal wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 7:49 amIf you look at system weight Time is one of the lightest options there is, where as Speedplay is heavier than dura ace (pedals and cleats)

What's the story with DA pedals under "RW"? Titanium spindles? I thought that's been tried and classified as a Bad Idea due to spindles also beiing used as a bearing race.ryanw wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 10:19 pmJust because I'm me...

I had a pair of DA9100 w/ Ti spindle years ago. They didn't survive a season (crits and GranFondos), and I switched back to the original steel spindle.
The end of the spindle, where works as the ball seat, was deformed under the pressure of the balls.
Edit: my time iclic 2 cleats weight 82 gr w/ bolts instead of 89 gr.
cleats w/ hardware:
Look keo = 66 gr
Keywin = 76 gr
Pedal weight:
Xpedo Thrust sl = 168 gr
Keo Carbon Cermaic Ti = 190 gr
Keywin Carbon Ti = 169 gr
System weight
Xpedo Thrust sl (w/ look cleats instead of Xpedo ones), 236 gr, but tend to creak.
Keo Carbon Cermaic, 256 gr.
Keywin Carbon Ti, 245 gr.
Do you guys think there is significant reason for me to go from Speedplay to Dura Ace or Look if i look for better power transfer?

If you can get on with the float options offered by the Shimano SPD-SL design, I think you would definitely find them to be more stable than SP. SP, like the Keywin pedals I use, pivot about the center of the pedal. The blue and yellow spd-sl cleats pivot slightly differently. One thing to keep in mind if you run the pedal tension low on the yellow cleats is that you will get a lot more than the stated 1.6mm lateral float. I have measured it as closer to 6-7mm when the pedal tension is backed right off. That may or may not bother you. It certainly bothered me.
The spd-sl pedals will definitely be more robust with virtually no issues with cleats and rocking of the pedals as SP often exhibit. You won't have to worry about keeping the cleat as clean and free of debris as you do with SP and you never have to lubricate spd-sl cleats as you have to do on a regular basis with SP. The spd-sl system is a very solid design, as the fact that it has remained unchanged since its introduction in 2003 would attest.
I would stay away from Look pedals. Others like them, but I always found the bearings to be shit and was never impressed with their functionality.

I have Time road and MTB pedals with Ti axles. No problem with any of them and they're several years old.
