Over the past few years Apple have been fined Billions of dollars by the EU for anti-competitive practices in locking people out of programming other wallet options for iPhones instead of Apple Pay, forcing companies to funnel in app purchases through App Store etc. Although this is on a much smaller scale and may not attract regulatory attention I can't see that it's any different, and very much seems like it's simply illegal.

So you stop with the updates. Sounds like there really is not a problem.

Of course, if the unit is buggy and has a lot of problems, at some point, you may have to perform an update.

Very weird move. Isn't this just ANT+?

Hammerhead should suggest disabling ANT+ support on their group sets if Shimano doesn't want this feature to be used.
  • Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8 Di2
  • Cervelo Caledonia Rival eTap AXS
  • Vitus Venon Evo
  • Canyon Grail CF SL 8 Di2

Shimano has a closed version of Ant+. Shram and Campagnolo use the open standard of ANT+. Look for this to continue and get worse as the electronic group sets. In the future you will see that a group set will become unsupported and making it useless.

Use your brain for a second, do you really think Garmin did $1 million in sales in one quarter? Try another source (or more likely numbers are reported in thousands).

How can Shimano make $1b in Q1 22 sales? You cannot even buy them easily!

My bad, number is in thousands indeed, so basically similar for both companies for Q1 2022. Apologies!

My guess is you can't buy high end stuff, because the focus is production of low end stuff, because big money is in low end bikes.
