I don't believe it's fairly normal. Mine haven't leaked.
Why are my piston seals leaking and what to do?

Except neither of those things are "fairly normal".
I believe the piston seals leaking are far, far more common than the cranks cracking.ghostinthemachine wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 2:20 pmExcept neither of those things are "fairly normal".

You seem to be able to buy the Shimano Calipers now, about 6 months ago I would be afraid of riding because no one have the any replacement calipers
Ceramic piston FM calipers (BR-R9170/BR-R8070/BR-R7070/BR-RS805/BR-RS505/BR-RX810) can be upgraded
to non-cracking non-ceramic pistons from inexpensive caliper donor (BR-4770/BR-RS405/BR-RX400)
I am calling this upgrade, because newer Dura-Ace/Ultegra BR-R9270/BR-R8170 calipers are using non-ceramic resin pistons, like Tiagra.
If you buy a new caliper to be used as replacement (not a donor), then get BR-R9270/BR-R8170/BR-R7170 or BR-4770/BR-RS405/BR-RX400.
