The Elita One seatpost is a great deal at only 30€ and a weight of 128 grams (27,2 mm and 300 mm).

Let's shave 24 grams off by mounting MCFK hardware!

--

As I am cutting off the top I bought a 350 mm seatpost to have enough to end up with a 300 mm seatpost. The weight comparison is for another 300 mm Elita one seatpost.

The old heavy hardware;

New MCFK hardware;

I design and 3D-printed little guide blocks;

Lining up the 3D-printed guide blocks to help cut the holes for the cradle and pin and also cutting the bottom at a 50 degree angle to shave some additional weight.

Making the cuts;

Done?? No because comparing the wall thickness to an MCFK seatpost it is clear that the walls need to be thicker around the top area.

So take a smaller carbon tube and epoxy it to the inside of the top of the seatpost;

This tube was made by me, but you can buy ready made tubes as well.

Much thicker and sturdier!

All done! and paint stripped and clearcoated in 2K.

Good job, I use the elita one posts for something similar.
I have a bunch of kcnc parts so use those instead of the MCFK

If you sand past the cosmetic ud layer you get this.

hello. Nice mod.

Why did you have to cut off the top of the pin?

My Elita one came down to 107 g after cutting it to 250mm with a straight cut, no sanding of the surface and 100mm down the seat post.

The top of the Elita one is thicker than necessary and the hardware has strange dimensions and placements. You cannot fit aftermarket hardware to the Elita One seatpost without cutting new holes for the cradle and pin.

Removing the original top and using my reinforced top saved about 10 grams (accounting for the lenght lost), so it was the main saving point.

Darimo makes a 25mm T2 seatpost, although not as light as inline T1.

You know Elita makes a carbon cradle?

The one that comes on the elita is carbon but very thick. I can bore a big hole in the middle to save weight if you feel it's worth the 3 gram saving.

The Elita One does comes with a carbon cradle and I guess you could use it.

The diameter of the Elita cradle is about 28 mm (it is larger than 27,2 mm!!). Anything larger (or smaller) than 27,2 mm is not ideal.

I don't like the design of the Elita cradle and one of my seatposts came with a cracked cradle.

Are Elita ONE seatpost safe for use ?
Most china brand seatpost is bad quality.... It often happens that they break while driving :( I'm a relatively light driver ... 60kg shouldn't be a problem for this seat post?
