8.1 kg for size 58? Uh-oh.
The frameset at 3000 British pounds may not be a bad deal.
Edit: even better at $2700 per the Cervelo site.

I'll add another link to a review here too, there's also a video to watch too.

I like it, unfortunately the geometry is too aggressive for me but it is a race bike after all. The Caledonia geometry suits me better. Surprised though by the addition of a T47 bottom bracket.

something called BBrighT-47, a threaded combination of the two. I assume threaded but to the asymmetric BBright measurements.

Factor was probably the first to use this configuration on the Ostro. Everyone else just calls it T47A.

Cherry picking some info
the Soloist has about 190g more drag than the current S5, which is one of the most aerodynamically efficient designs currently. That 190g aero penalty at the 30mph (48km/h) Cervelo tested the Soloist at, translates to a difference of roughly 22 watts, pretty substantial. At the more realistic speed of low to mid 30km/h that most of us average, that gap would narrow to somewhere between 10 – 15w. Compared to the R5 though, the Soloist is another 126g of drag faster, or about 14 watts less at 48km/h.
The weight too is between the R5 and S5. The claimed weight for the Soloist Frame comes in at 919g and fork is 374g, for a size 56 painted. That’s 261g heavier than the R5, but still 154g lighter than the S5. My 48cm test bike, in stock configuration without pedals or bottle cages, weighs 7.71kg.

Per Cycling Tips, weight for size 56 is 7.5 kg without pedals.
Also claimed 919g frame, 374g fork (size not specified)

Interesting, and basically the same geo as an R5. I'd probably go for this over an R5, shame it's not lighter but any lighter and it's completely eating the R5 salesSteve Curtis wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 9:22 amCherry picking some info

Based on pricing alone, it’s going to be the more popular option of the two. $2700 for the frameset.

Damn you're good! So pleased I got a CT subscription during the recent sale. The site really is beautifully laid out, and I trust the reviews. Example: one of my bikes is an Orbea Orca OMX (which I'm trying to sell.) James' CT review of its predecessor, the OMR, was 100% accurate based on my test ride of the bike. It gave me good ideas on how the OMX would ride and how I could address the downside of the bike (James accurate characterized it as almost too stiff and soulless...solution was wider tires to keep the stiffness but add compliance).
Also, I suspect you are exactly right that this is the S3 reborn. That would be good because my first premium carbon bike was a 2010 R3 and the shop owner later told me I'd have liked the S3 better. I rode the 2016 generation S3 once and it was stunning. Cervelo benefits from having an aero bike without the more radical features of the S5.
