Looking for a stem for a Giant TCR with OD2 1 1/4 (31.8mm) steerer and found this:

https://www.xlc-parts.com/en/road/bike- ... ide-st-m26

Is cheap, claimed weight of 105g is decent, and looks like logos would come off with acetone. Comes in "road"ish length of 120mm which is what I need. Look slightly similar to the Kalloy uno stems.

With alloy bolts, could be looking at around 100g.

Anyone tried it, particularly on a 31.8mm steerer road bike?

I used to have a 1 1/8 XLC road bike stem about 6 years ago on my road bike. Was very happy with quality, weight and price. Used it with a carbon steerer and bar, no issues.

Not sure it's the stiffest stem on the market though.

I've never noticed a difference in stem stiffness (well, not since the quill stem days anyway, maybe the early ahead days) so that's not too much of a concern.

Surprised these don't get suggested more often if they're good. They're lighter than zipp or Ritchey, and about a third of the price.

they do get recommended when people ask for 1 1/4 stems, don't use alloy bolts on a stem they are to weak for stems, use titanium bolts

Oops yes. Meant to write ti! Indeed that would be a disaster!

It's 126g for a 120mm length with stock bolts. The claim of 105g for 100mm seems dubious but overall isn't a respectable weight in line with Zipp or Ritchey stems at three times the cost.

Quality seems good but not remarkable. Finish is similar to Kalloy "7" stems which makes me wonder if Kalloy are making these.

I will see if using bar clamps from a Kalloy stem bring the weight down any, and if logos can be removed with acetone.

Had a 110mm, I can't recal the weight but it was surely lower than most 1 1/4 at the time. Finish wasn't particularly good but it did it's job and was good for the price
