Hey all

Looking to install the black inc barstem on my sl6.

Anyone got pictures to share on how the setup would look like? Any feedback? Tips?

Also - can I leave spacers on top or do I have to cut my steerer?

Cheers

curious why you have chosen this? the black inc bar is pretty expensive and not particularly awesome IMO. I have one on my Ostro and have been trying to find something else that will work with the Ostro (both because the stem ended up being longer than I wanted and there's no way I'm buying another one of these, and also because I don't think it's particularly aero compared to other options). The main thing about it seems to be that the stem is hollow for routing cables through it, which the Ostro requires. My mechanic has complained to me many times how big of a PITA it is to cable the bar, but I don't think you'll be routing through the stem on an SL6, so I'm unsure if his complaints apply.

Hey, pretty simple really. I'm currently running a zipp set up, but wanted to get a one piece cockpit mainly because it looks cleaner/simpler to me. Was the Black Inc and the Roval Alpinist that came up. Don't quite like the alpinist as the bars look really thin and round (prefer the 'flatness' of aero bars).

Why not Bonti RSL VR-C? It's lighter than Black Inc, more aero shaped, and unbranded. Cable routing might work better, too.

Great looking for sure. But I think the long 100mm reach is a bit too much for me

I had a one piece aero barstem I bought from a Chinese company on eBay for about $110 on my SL6 (and its predecessor Pinarello Dogma), and I loved it. I was running eTap so there were 2 fewer cables, but rim brakes with as I recall exposed cables (don't remember)

I chose to cut the steerer to leave the cap flush with the stem, but my new bike has a one piece barstem and I've left 5 mm atop the cap.

That one piece is a Chapter2 Mana, and I recommend it. 375g for size 420 // 110, very stiff, comes in many sizes.

I don't have an SL6, but I do run the barstem on my R5, and I'm very happy with it. I love the shape of the tops (flat, but not overly wide like most aero bars), and the bend is fantastic. The finsh is superb, and the cable routing is very easy (I run di2, disc brakes). You can run it will a spacer ontop.

Then I have to credit them on their warranty/customer service, as well. My fist one cracked just below the lever clamp, and they replaced it, no questions asked.

I hate how lomg the reach is on Bontrager bars!
2014 Madone 5.9 w/R9100 shifters and R8000 everything else- using 38mm ICANs or 60/90 SuperTeams- 7.25kgs with the ICANs and Garmin Vector S dual sided PM pedals- not super light but not a dog, either!

Wow that's a dreambike.
Would love to find a 56 size tarmac sl6 somewhere with rimbrakes.

Adding a few photos of the combo with the Alpinist cockpit. Indeed thin tops, but not that bad in practice. I think it matches the SL6 quite nicely.

Let me know if it shows you what you wanted to see. The bell is a Cateye OH-2400. The bike light mount is from Bontrager, as I have their Ion 200.
