It's actually both, a mixture of the Italian word cervello (= brain) and French vélo (= bike). A BrainbikeTobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 9:49 pmCervelo doesn't sound Italian at all to me. It sounds French.

Fezzari is legit? As in Italian? I thought they are a US brand with cheap bikes. Their road bike is $2.9k at Ultegra level so I thought it was a cheap open mold brand or something of that sort.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 9:49 pmCervelo doesn't sound Italian at all to me. GT was probably talking about Fezzari (legit,) Stradalli (junk,) or Scattante (defunct Performance Bikes house brand.)
Other confusing names would be Massi vs Masi. One being a legit Spanish brand and the other being a shell of an Italian brand name.

Fezzari is legit as in they don’t make junk. They are American and always have been.
If you want a completely custom Italian Carbon bike, you can always order one from Daccordi.
https://www.daccordicycles.com/road-bikes/
It might not be as High tech as a Look frame, but the bikes will have custom geometry based on your measurements, and a custom paintjob if you pay for it.
The frames are also hand made in italy, not in asia.
The biggest problem would be choosing which historic paintjob you want on the frame - some of them are pretty wild, and would really stand out in todays sea of bland frames
Personally i currently ride a modern Gios Aerolite (in additon to a bunch of old alloy and steel Daccordi's), and i think its great, even though its a Taiwanese frame.
Super stiff and fun to ride, with a nice historic looking paintjob.

I have a early 90's Daccordi tellaio turbo with SLX tubing. Paint job is absolutely beautiful - it's too small for me to comfortably ride but I can't bear to part with it!bjarnetv wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 11:08 amIf you want a completely custom Italian Carbon bike, you can always order one from Daccordi.

The 90s was the best era for Daccordi - i've got several SLX frames with the Team Galli paintjob, and 3 different late 90s Megatube alloy frames.
The old alloy frames are seriously good though - i even sold my old CAAD12 ultegra because they were faster, more fun to ride and had better finish

Interesting thread as I've been looking myself, my LBS sells Officine Mattio https://www.officinemattio.com/en/. I'll be heading down there to see what they think but they look very nice
