While having a look at the Skunkworks Bikes insta, I came across a "secret Baum finishing tape" praised by Zak Smiley of Skunkworks.

Just wondering if anyone knows what it is?

It looks aesthetically pleasing as an alternative to the usual electrical tape.

I need to know too. About to change bar tape soon but really don't want to use 3M electrical tape. I heard about some "electrical fastening tape" but found nothing yet.

Could be 3M 3407na friction tape? Fabric tape. Can pick it up at any hardware store.

Consider silicone self sealing tape. Comes in lots of colors with no leaking adhesive mess.

I have a love/hate relationship with that stuff. Most of it is pretty thick, and it’s also brittle…if you nick it, it will shear under its own tension quite often.

I have been using clear packing tape, it's not perfect close-up. However, when I do it right I can't really see it when riding. And for sure my riding mates can't see while they are riding with me...

That could be Tesa wire loom tape. I know Quickstep used to use it. It's intended for use on automobiles but it works just fine to hold the ends of bar tape in place.

The weave is too coarse in any of the specific tapes listed. The tape in the OP almost looks like a cloth bandaid and it has white fibers.

Baum and Busyman go hand in hand. The Busyman tape comes with leather finishing tape that has adhesive on the back.

As already mentioned, looks like 3M friction tape:

Only issue might be that is discolors a little with sunlight.

I recently switched to taping the bars top down. No finishing tape needed and a much cleaner look overall. It even works with a DI2-plug!

No issues with edges peeling off, works just fine.

Horses for courses, but that is not applealing to me, especially the RS910 fittment.

It takes a while to get right, but once able, traditional wrapping is the way:
