Great ride mate. Ownz 99% disc brake bikes any day on any hill.bobones wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 5:29 pmI don't know about that. I picked up a new 2021 Giant TCR Advanced SL rim brake frameset for £1760 (RRP £2549), equipped it with new SRAM Red AXS (+ Rival FD) and some other bits I had lying around for less than £4k all in. I have added EE brakes and Garmin Vector pedals which bumps the price up a bit, but it's still a top spec bike for about £5k. Aside from the EEs, which I bought for the colour, there are no weight weenie boutique parts and it weighs in at 6.5kg with PM pedals and computer mount.HansZuDemFranz wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 3:09 pmKinda sucks, that you have to go either chinese or super high-end (pinarello, colnago) to get a modern rim-brake frame.
When I was looking around for a lightweight rim brake frameset, there were a few interesting choices available from the likes of Time, Look, Factor, Arc8, Focus (old Izalo Max). The Chinese option that caught my attention was the Elves Vanyar. However, the TCR is arguably the best performing, lightweight, current design, rim brake frame still in production, and despite the fact I've never really liked Giant bikes (or purple ones), I am happy I ended up (somewhat fortuitously) with this.
