Hi,

For a new wheelset with DT Swiss 180 exp hub and thru axle (12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear), can I use internal lockring system? I've managed to find two brand new Shimano XTR rotors (the same ones of the new 12-speed dura ace groupset) but they only come with internal lockring (the same system of a Shimano cassette). Not entirely sure if I could use that system for the new wheelset and dt swiss hub... the lockring won't come from dt Swiss, so I need to get it from the Shimano rotor itself.

Any help please?

Thanks,
Luca

As extra info, The wheelset is ENVE and the dt Swiss hub is the 180 exp straightpull centerlock.

Anyone had any problems with the internal lockring? I've never used the internal one, always had the external which works well. However, unfortunately these rotors I've found online are internal... I have read some reviews that the Shimano internal lockring sometimes doesn't seem to clamp on the rotor and doesn't engage fully on DT Swiss hubs.. quite worried about this..

I've dealt with about 40 pairs of DTSwiss road hubs (mostly 180/240) since the summer, all of them have worked perfectly with the Shimano internal lockrings.

Internal lock ring doesn't work with some few hubs.
External lock ring doesn't work with very few fork (Trek had some).
If it fits, it works. You'll notice right away if it doesn't fit.

Anyone try to use old DT-swiss hub that require external lock ring, on Trek (old Emonda?) that can't use external lock ring?

External lockrings are mostly needed on 15mm axle bikes, so most 12mm bikes and wheels should be compatible with internal lockrings (which are way better)

^ to expand on that, external lockring may foul the fork leg. On a 12mm axle, you are less likely to have an issue with internal.
