I have a DM hanger for my frame that doesn't allow the same back and forth swing of the 9150 RD when it's mounted as the RD has with the stock Shimano B knuckle setup.

I am sure that it will free up over time as the RD pivots back and forth on the DM hanger but how much RD swing does the RD-9150 need to function properly? Am I risking anything by using that setup until the hanger gets polished a little and permits a bit looser swing of the RD?

Sometimes just a small file can solve the issue and give freedom of movement.

I thought about that but never got around to trying it. I think I will now. Cheers.

I'm still curious about the movement question, though. Is that very free swing of the 9150 RD on the B knuckle integral to its functionality?

The new shadow-style RDs don't pivot at all during normal operation. Only when replacing the rear wheel.

Don't really think its an issue as once the B-screw is in position...doesn't matter if it moves or not. Make sure B-screw position is correct...then tighten it down into position and you should be good.
