Has anyone replaced the plate on their new speedplays with the titanium one from dulight?

Nice. I note that they also offer shorter than standard Ti spindles for Wahoo Speedplay Zero's which I have not found on Ebay.

I've got both here and have fitted one set... Always been happy with Dulight Ti parts for Speedplay.

Zero pedals come in around 158-160g with Ti covers and spindles.

Not sure if the Nano Ti spindle is lighter than the Dulight? Also the Nano body is also apparently lighter.

If the Nano's use alloy covers, when changing out with Dulight Ti covers, they should be around 148g.

I did a swap on a new pair of chromoly Wahoo pedals with a set of J&L titanium spindles.

A few things to note. Do not use a ball end hex wrench. The 3mm bolt that holds the spindle is tight but doesn't really require much force once you use a quality 3mm hex wrench. I was a bit cautious as others have said that it is difficult to remove. Tight, but not difficult. Easier swap than previous Speedplay versions and less messy since sealed bearings are used. Since these were new, when I removed the chromoly spindles, there was a slight smear of grease...not heavily greased. Maybe I should have added more grease...but for this swap, I did not. The J&L titanium spindles fit perfect unlike previous versions where the fitment was not 100%. Easy swap and saved quite a few $ from the Nano version.

What did you use to remove the tiny bolt cap on the pedal body?

I just used a tiny sharp pick. its a rubber cover. Just don't lose it as it can go flying past you if you happen to pull it out too fast!

What did you use to remove the tiny bolt cap on the pedal body?

Removing the end rubber cap is quite easy. I personally use a sharp cutter to slightly pull the cap, then I finish with my fingers. Once the cap is removed, you have to use a hex key to remove the spindle, very easy. Changing the Wahoo spindles is easier than it was with the Speedplay Zero. With The Zero you had to pull the plastic cap, and unscrew the Torx bolt, sometimes this bolt was totally stuck...

your truspilot link shows reviews from Crédit Mutuel customers, there is no relation with my company or my online payments, this is a weird approach, people there are talking of their loan repayments, account operating fees, etc, reviews here are all stories about relationships between customers and their bank, nothing else (and check the reviews for any other banks, you will see that all banks have terrible reviews). When you place your order on DuLight website, you purchase is made with DuLight company, not with a bank! I don't take paypal because the fees are higher than with regular credit card payment. And in my opinion it is a good thing to use Paypal when you are not sure of the seller, but in the case of DuLight, the online shop shop was opened 14 years ago and I dare you to find anyone saying I swindled him.

Nice. So about 10g savings with Ti covers? And how's the fit of the Dulight covers?

With care and nervousness of breaking a bolt like the OP, I slowly started removing the bolts holding the spindles. Both came free but there is loctite red there

Having recieved the Ti plates and shorter spindles from Dulight, although the spindles are for my wife, I was curious about how the narrower spindles would ride so installed the plates and spindles on the replacement Zero's I got from Wahoo a couple weeks back. Gave them a go with Rouvy on the trainer and after a 20-mile rolling ride, decided the stance was a tad to narrow for me and today swapped them back.

So I am also going to echo the comments about exercising extreme caution when loosening the bolts as my pedals seemed to require a considerable amount of torque to loosen the retaining bolts, but threaded back in with no issues when I installed the Dulight spindles. I guess either I over torqued the bolt on when I switched back to the Wahoo spindles or Wahoo is using sub par bolts to attach the pedal body to the spindle as 3-miles into a lunch time trainer ride, I notice my left foot is suddenly got way to much rotation. When I stopped pedaling, the left shoe/pedal body came free of the spindle, so after fiddling with it to unclip, I examined the pedal body and found that the retaining bolt had sheared off at the spindle. With the old pedals, I could have simply swapped out the retaining bolt but with the new pedals, the hole in the end of the pedal body is smaller than head of the retaining bolt, thus no way to remove the bolt. Also, trying to drill the remainder in the spindle to use an easy out was not very productive either, so suffice to say will be purchasing a new set of pedals shortly.

So it's a little lees gain than promised?
- spindles from 115g to 64g so 51g saved
- plates from 51g to 30g so 21g saved
Zero's weigh 222g so with the new parts they should be 150g but actually it's more like 160g?

Stainless Wahoo spindles are 38.5g heavier than Dulight Ti.
Stainless Wahoo plates & bolts are 21.5g heavier than Dulight Ti.

So 60g total.

Stanadard Zero's are 220g on my scales, so 160g after Dulight upgrades.

As far as the pedal bodies go, I figure that the only other difference is the spindle and since I'm using some of the cleats from the previous Speedplay branded cleats before the merger, I opted for the lesser expensive pedals since all i really need is the pedal bodies. The covers from Dulight is roughly about $46 and the spindles are about $45. The difference from Comp to Zero is ~$60 (total cost of tuned Comps are approx about $240) and you get pedals closer to the $449 Nano.

I haven't had any issues with the retaining bolt that holds the pedal on...but I have been using Loctite 242. Maybe since the bearings are sealed...use stronger Loctite like 641?
